Angel and I set by and tended the fire while Jim cleaned the rest of the stuff out of the garages. This is the last photo I will post here... It's the very last photo I took. There are lots of memories that were made here. We bought the property in 2001 and had most of the house completely redone. We started renting it as a vacation rental in August of that year. Our kids were only 4 and 1 years old at the time. They are now 20 and 17! We had many, many birthday parties at the pond. The kids grew up visiting the cottage, swimming in the pond and running around the yard. Same with our dogs. Two of our dogs and one cat are buried here, in the little pet cemetery. Several holidays with family, we're spent at the cottage. We had our daughter's graduation open house here. And we were happy to rent the house out to guests, who also made their own memories throughout the years. Several of our guests came here year after year, making their own treasured memories. Thank you for visiting.... Now with heavy heart, I post our last photo.... but it's OK. We have other things we are moving onto. (OR already have moved onto). We have other adventures we want to do and places to be. Bye... bye... Retreat in the Woods. I am sure your new owners will love you.

Angel is enjoying a nice swim in the pond. She's probably going to feel it tomorrow. She's been trying to play while we pack. She's 12 years old and I think she will be sore tonight. I think she will need an aspirin.

Well... it's official. On Thursday Aug 25th, at 2pm we signed the papers and closed the sale. The Retreat now has new owners and it will no longer be used as a vacation rental. The new owners are going to use it as their own private get-away. Thanks again to all who have visited. - Jim and Ivie Baker

Well... a long chapter in our lives will be closing on August 25th. We will be completing the sale of the the Retreat in the Woods to a new owner. It will not longer be available as a vacation rental. Many families have visited the Retreat over the last 15 years, making vacation memories. Many families visited year after year.... We raised our kids having their birthday celebrations at the pond. Our daughter had her graduation open house at the Retreat... The cottage will be missed, but we were ready to move onto other things. We thank everyone who visited the Retreat and loved it like we do.

The property is absolutely beautiful and the trees were full of color. We loved how it was away from it all, the hot tub was amazing and they even had a canoe which we used. I have a story that goes along with the canoe, we also brought our puppy she had never been in a boat before.. it was my idea to put her in the canoe, my husband was afraid that she would not stay in the canoe. I assured him that she would be ok, well the moral of the story is she was not OK, and she jumped out of the canoe and my husband tried to save her from jumping into the water and as he leaned over to grab her, we all fell in!! We were laughing so hard that we barely made it back to shore. We got the canoe finally back to shore and we were all in one piece but let me tell you it is near the end of October and the water was cold!! And lo and behold waiting on the shoreline for us lol. If you need a great getaway this is the place to come and stay!! Thank you so much ivy for a wonderful stay!!

The raft was officially brought into show last weekend. I know... we're late! The hot tub is still running. We will have the tub winterized at the end of the third week of Oct. Fall color just around the corner! Book your dates for Fall. We also still have deer season available for those who need a place to stay during bow or gun. (Sorry... no hunting at the property).

Review #12196181 “Absolute Retreat!!!”

This experience was absolutely perfect. My family spent hours swimming and fishing on the pond. My son and niece seemed to spend all of their time on the paddle boat chasing a turtle (they never did catch it). I had the pleasure of flipping over in the canoe with my daughter. Lol. The fish in the pond are very spoiled and will absolutely eat everything you throw at them...perfect for my kids who never been fishing before. It was a culture shock for my family who have never been outside of the city but they adjusted really fast to the country living. Now I have to buy my kids a hot tub because they loved it so much. I can't think of what wasn't included because it seemed that absolutely everything was thought of. Definitely will be returning in the future. Thanks for such a wonderful relaxed experience!

4th of July week just opened up! Anyone looking to book June 28th to July 5th or July 3rd to the 10th, please inquire. It just opened up yesterday and we are starting to get some inquiries, but no takers as of this morning.
