This cold weather (overnight low was 7!) has put a crimp in construction plans. Holes for the footers for the mudroom addition, new covered back/side porch and new carport were dug last week, but you can't pour concrete in 22-degree temperatures!

Maybe by the end of the week it will get above freezing, and if not then it will be next week, for sure, and then we'll see some real progress.

If you're thinking about a trip to the mountains in 2025, now is the time to book it. The Dragonfly Cottage re-opens April 7, and is already booked from May 25 through July 28 and August 17-31.

Weeks are filling fast!

Most of our guests experience the beauty of Chinquapin in March - October, when it is warm(er) and wonderfully green.

It can sure be pretty in the winter, too!

Not a lot could be done in this first week of renovations and additions, but the snow sure is pretty!

Spring will be here before we know it, so book a trip now before the calendar fills up!

Welcome, 2025!
It’s a great first day of the year in the Natures Walk neighborhood of Chinquapin! Chilly (high of 38 today) and windy but with a beautiful blue sky and great mountain views.

A bit foggy in Chinquapin this weekend. Construction set to begin January 6 on some great improvements to the Dragonfly Cottage. The rental calendar reopens April 7. Time to make plans for a great Spring get-away to the mountains!

Coming Soon: An improved Dragonfly Cottage!
Baker Martin (aka Down River Builders) will soon start on a project to add a mud room, a new covered back/side porch, a carport and a fenced in backyard where dogs can play.
The cottage will be open to rent starting the first week of April.
