Been busy over here and excited to see so many regulars back in town! We are open normals hours this weekend today, Friday and Saturday 10-5. Lots of fresh claws, shrimp, oysters, dips and more for you Super Bowl celebrations. We are still taking orders for Saturday pick up (239)394-8616.

Crab signal goes up at midnight for the stone crabbers able to throw traps. We hope you throw ‘em on bottom where the crabs are crawling!

Sea turtles after Ian
After a storm, you may see young sea turtles tangled in seaweed on the shore or in places they don’t belong like pools or yards. This is because hatchlings make their initial multi-mile ocean journey to find floating plants for food and shelter, which can be carried onshore by storm currents and wind. Sea turtles hatch with a yolk that gives them just enough energy to find floating seaweed or other material so if they get washed back onto shore, they are unlikely to survive another long, offshore journey. If you find one of these small “washback” sea turtles, do not attempt to put it back in the ocean! Call our Wildlife Alert Hotline (1-888-404-3922), where they will provide you with further instruction.

Note: actively crawling towards the water do not need assistance.

Thank you The Marco Review for keeping residents and visitors informed! So proud to see all of these businesses snapping right back to it, all while many are helping their neighbors get there as well! SWFL Resilience!

Now that businesses are starting to open up again after the storm we will try to keep you up to date with who we know are open. I will keep updating this post so please keep looking back at it. Also please feel free to add any business which you know is open to the comments section.

Nacho-Mama's, Island chicken, Michelbob's, Red Rooster, Italian Deli CJ 's. Deep Lagoon, Davide's, Hoots, IslaMarotta, Salty Dog, Ciao Bella, Thai Sushi by KJ and The Speak Easy are open today, so is Paddle Marco and the laundromat on Collier Blvd.,

Oyster Society, Marco Prime, Wake Up Marco, Sweet Annie's, and Sunset Grille as well as OMG that Chic will re-open on Monday. Marco Fitness Club will open at 6am Monday. kathein Jewellers and Keep in Touch will also open on Monday.

Salon & Spa Botanica reopen on Tuesday.

Backwater Adventure will reopen on Friday October 7th.

Some other updates:
Marco Island Historical Museum and Marco Zealand Center for the Arts were not damaged in the storm but unfortunately Caxambas Park was badly damaged and the Dome Home at Cape Romano has finally disappeared beneath the Gulf of Mexico.... it will make a good reef for fishing though!

The photo was taken before the storm. Beautiful Marco Island has been affected by many storms over the years and has always recovered. It will be just as gorgeous as it was before in no time at all!

And finally don't forget there is still a curfew on Marco from 12am to 6am.

Hurricane Ian certainly made himself known in SWFL, and it is heart breaking.

Our thoughts are with those who lost so much in his wake. Specifically in Lee County where this tragedy hit the hardest.

Goodland was given a big tumble for sure. But, the perseverance and resilience of Goodlanders and the people of Marco Island outshines the destruction that was left here, as it does after every wicked storm.

We plan to be fully operational beginning Friday, October 7th. Our docks made through well and only needed minor repairs…but, our waterways may take some time. We will be out throughout the week relearning our beloved waters and making sure we have an enjoyable and safe tour route for our guests.

We understand plans have changed for many and we are here to accommodate those changes 100%. We do want to encourage people with plans later in the month to still hold on to them…as your visits are wanted and needed now more than ever before.

Manatees in Motion
Florida manatees migrate, swimming to waters warmer than 68° F to get them through the winter – that’s why they move into springs and other warm water sites when temperatures start to drop. It remains critically important to be aware of manatees while on the water as we continue to work with partners to monitor and respond to the ongoing mortality event along the east coast. We are exploring a variety of options to help manatees in the areas most affected. What you can do to help while on the water: Follow posted waterway markers and go slow and look out below while boating. Discard trash properly while enjoying the outdoors.
