We’ve just added this beautiful woodpecker carving to the Goshen Post Inn. It was hand carved by local folk artist Ronald Derrow. He sells his carvings from his shop, Shumake & Johnson Antiques, located in Mount Sidney, VA.

We were recently sent this fabulous picture of the historic Goshen Post Office taken several decades ago by Goshen resident Wyatt Canady. Thankfully, the front of the post office has not been modified, for the most part, from the way it looked in the photo. It’s great to see that the various owners of the building have tried to maintain the historic and architectural integrity of this old rural post office. We will try our best to continue to be good stewards of the building under our watch, to preserve its quiet beauty for future generations. Does anyone remember when the post office officially closed?

The inn features a large Great Room with queen size Murphy bed, full kitchen, bedroom with queen size bed, full bath, and screened-in porch. It's the ideal place to experience the beauty of the Goshen Pass & explore the outdoors of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest, Rockbridge, Bath and Augusta counties. We've added a vintage executive's desk, made in England, and antique mail sorter to the Goshen Post Inn, for our guests who may want to remote work or use the inn as a writer's retreat, etc. Guests will also have access to our high-speed fiber optic internet and wi-fi.

Here’s another sneak peek into the Great Room at Goshen Post Inn. The Great Room measures approximately 23’x40’, including the open concept kitchen. We’ve added quite a few pieces to the inn that we have collected over the years. Here, you can see a couple of the more whimsical pieces that we have added, including a custom crafted side table, oversized coffee table and some of the art. The Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611 Steam Locomotive and train rolling into Goshen after one of its test runs last week.
