Eighth Street Preschool is a service of Eighth Street Mennonite Church. We offer classes for three and four year-old children.

Eighth Street Preschool offers opportunities for each child to play and share with other children, develop self-confidence and find acceptable ways of expressing feelings
Classroom activities which include parents and grandparents sharing their interests, hobbies and skills. We lead activities which encourage curiosity and self-awareness. Our lead teachers hold college degrees in elementary educat

ion or early childhood education. Eighth Street Preschool works with Elkhart County Special Education Cooperative (ECSEC) by serving children with special needs. We offer an experience-based curriculum with units such as: The Farm, Spring, Families, Whales, Music, and Dinosaurs. Children also learn through art experiences emphasizing child’s creativity and field trips coordinated with units of study. Our facilities offer three rooms which are well-equipped for a variety of interest centers in which to discover and explore, an activity center for large motor development, and a fenced in playground for outdoor play.

GOSHEN — The Goshen Common Council and the Goshen Parks and Recreation Board will host a public meeting Friday at 10 a.m. at the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, 232 S. Main St.

The topic of discussion will be planning for the new Shanklin Park Pool.

Join Luisa Dutchersmith, Goshen College Hickory Scholar, for Nature Play at Nature’s Classroom at Waterford Elementary as part of her research project. Children should attend WITH A CAREGIVER. All ages welcome. No bathrooms available. Weather concerns: canceled if there are high winds, lightening or thunder; play is a go if there is light rain.

Tuesdays: 2-4pm
Wednesdays: 9-11 am

Gross Motor Obstacle Course

Why a Gross Motor Obstacle Course? *Poor balance and coordination can contribute to ADD and ADHD symptoms. *Weak sensory and motor systems affect a student’s ability to comprehend, pay attention, and have successful hand-eye coordination. *Poor eye-focusing and eye tracking can dramatically impact a child’s ability to read. *The vestibular system (the system that provides the leading contribution to balance and spatial orientation for the purpose of coordinating movement) is at the core of everything your child does.

Gross Motor Obstacle Course

Here you will see a preschoolers ability to jump with both feet together. This takes quite a bit of skill for a little one to stay balanced while jumping.

Gross Motor Skills

This is an 8th Street Preschooler displaying his ability to side-step. The control that it takes to stay on the line is a crucial part of childhood development.

New this year- 8th Street Preschool will have a Gross Motor Obstacle Course: This type of movement helps children in their learning, behavior, movement, speech, and play by strengthening and balancing the vestibular system (the sensory system that provides the leading contribution to balance and spatial orientation for the purpose of coordinating movement).
