Your 2024 Fall Foliage Estimation Map! I posted this a couple of weeks ago, but thought I'd share again.

This map is NOT a prediction. It's simply a look at when peak foliage has typically hit each county in PA over the last six years. Some parts of each county will be earlier and others later even if this is correct. It's simply a way to plan out now when you might want to visit various parts of the state.

While others have copied this map over the years, mine is the original and based on detailed studying of on-the-ground foliage reports put out by the state.

The 2024 Jim Thorpe Birthday Celebration is a one day, community event to honor our town's namesake! Mark your calendars!

This year's event will be held on Saturday, May 18th - starting at 10:30 at the monument, followed by an Olympian Torch Run, Opening Ceremony, presentations, demonstrations and vendors on the Jim Thorpe Area High School grounds.

The Shades of Death Trail in Hickory Run State Park in the Poconos is one of Pennsylvania's most beautiful trails. Filled with waterfalls and a beautiful forest, this is a must-hike trail for anyone visiting this corner of the state.

Snow surrounds the barracks of the Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Tobyhanna in this winter 1938 photo from our collection. The camp was located on the site of today's Tobyhanna Army Depot.
