We're excited to share that the Grainfield Community Development Committee sponsored Wheatland High School students to attend the Nex-Generation LifeSkills Program last spring. WOW, what a weekend! The weather was perfect, the crowd was absolutely AMAZING, and the vendors truly outdid themselves this year. We had an incredible group of participants in the events, with a spectacular showing of 58 cars! Words cannot fully express how thankful and grateful we are. As we mentioned in one of our posts, a successful event means a bustling city park filled with smiles. Mission ACCOMPLISHED!

There's so much more we want to share, but for now, we just want to say a heartfelt thank you. We'll be posting a longer update with photos later this week. In the meantime, we want to hear from you! What were your favorite parts of the Cruise, Shoes & BBQs weekend? What made it unforgettable for you, and what will bring you back next year?

Before we kick off the festivities, take a moment to check out our Sponsor list on the basketball fence at the park. These amazing people, businesses, and organizations deserve immense praise for making this event affordable for everyone. All profits from this weekend will go towards Grainfield Community Development Committee's 2024 projects. We try to only ask for support once a year (CS&BBQs), and our community always delivers. If you’d also like to support us, visit the concessions stand where we can discuss our projects. Whether it's $1, $20, $100 or $1,000,000 your donation will be appreciated. Plus, you’ll get to see the results of your support at next year’s Cruise, Shoes & BBQs 2025.

Food vendors are located on the north side of the fire department, with a list of available food displayed on the west side of the concessions stand. Yes, it’s a bit windy, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying a fantastic weekend with friends and family. A successful weekend means a bustling city park filled with smiles.

Better Built Trailers, a "Hotter Than Bacon Grease" Sponsor, is located at I-70 Exit 93 in Grainfield.. This family-owned and operated business has a rich history of dedication and excellence.

Mike Bainter started building trailers in his garage in Hoxie, Kansas, in 1996 while working with his father at Bainter Oil Service, Inc. Due to high demand, he established Better Built Trailers in 1999. The business moved to its current location in Grainfield in 2006.

Today, Better Built Trailers is a dealer for 20 brands, manufactures their own Better Built Hay Trailers, and offers a variety of trailer services and accessories. The company expanded by purchasing the Polaris® dealership in 2013 and the Hustler franchise in 2016. To support their growth, they added a new assembly building in 2019 and a storage facility in 2020.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mike, Rhonda, and the Better Built Trailers team for their unwavering support of our community. We are fortunate to have such a remarkable business in Grainfield.

The final meal of the weekend will be served by the Grainfield Fire Department Sunday evening from 5-8pm. Head over to the firehouse for a delicious Potato Bar featuring Wagyu Roast Beef or Chili! Customize your potato with butter, sour cream, onions, jalapeños, and bacon bits.

While you're there, don’t miss your chance to enter their gun giveaway, with the drawing on Sunday, May 26. All proceeds from the meal and giveaway will go towards new equipment for the fire department.

We are incredibly thankful for the dedicated volunteers who serve in our local fire departments.

Who doesn't love Piggy? We sure do! We're hoping he can make an appearance again this year. Piggy is usually very busy participating in all the activities at Cruise, Shoes & BBQs, but he always finds time to stop for a photo and a hug. Fingers crossed we see him again this year!
