4th of July festivities kicked off in Granby this morning at the annual Fly-in & Pancake Breakfast. Attendees enjoyed a pancake breakfast on the tarmac at the Granby Airport. It’s a community event. Put on by the community. For the community. The whole community. Every year for the 4th of July, Granby closes a street and rolls out the welcome wagon. We do it up big at 8,000 feet. A fly-in pancake breakfast, color run, parades, parties, music, rodeo, more rodeo, and some more rodeo after that. To cap it all off…FIREWORKS.

In Granby, everything’s a little more independent. Take Fitch Ranch Meats and Market - from the outside, it looks like a log building that fell out of the sky from a different time. Inside is a cafe with burgers best described as excessive, made with beef straight from the local family ranch. Behind the cafe, you’ll find a market selling that same beef and a host of other meat. After you have the burger, you’ll want the beef. It’s not what you’ll find everywhere, but that’s kinda the point. Granby, a little more independent.

Granby is a small town with BIG art!
The art scene has continued to grow in Granby, with several new murals and sculptures completed in 2022.
1) The Bowerbird's Den - There’s a new bird in town! Helena Martin, Artist brought to life the shop’s namesake, the bowerbird, and its collection of treasures.
2) Elk Mountain Construction - In partnership with Destination Granby, artist Dan Toro created idyllic scenes of Grand County past and present.
3) Granby Garage Roadhouse - Artist Mikey Cross added whimsy and color to downtown Granby with some fun new critters playing backup on the outdoor stage..
4) “Long Wall” Mural - The Granby Public Art Committee Committee’s Art in the Park event brings new life to the long wall mural each year. In 2022, artists competing in the event painted giant aspen leaves, which were installed on a backdrop of aspen trees and blue skies.
5) Mid Town Cafe Granby - As part of the Colorado Open for Business grant, Midtown Cafe commissioned artist John Henley Designs to create two outdoor sculptures, "Euclid's Dream" and "Sunrise to Sunset".
6) Polhamus Park Stage, Town of Granby - As a center focus for summer events and music, the Granby Public Art Committee commissioned artist Mackenzie Foote of Grand Alpine Painting to bring the flora and fauna of Grand County to the Polhamus Park stage.
