It’s crazy how my brain tries to trick me into thinking I didn’t accomplish enough this year.

Part of it could be that I set crazy ambitious goals for myself, and (gasp!) didn’t reach them this year.

Part of it could be comparing myself to everyone else on social media who seem to be crushing their businesses.

Part of it could be how it feels indulgent and somehow wrong (?) to look at what I’ve done with pride.

At then end of it all I keep reminding myself: I’d rather take a chance on myself and miss than look back on my life and say, “I wish I had been brave enough to try.”

Here’s to being brave and pushing the limits in 2025 🎉

Afternoon Bike & Brew 5/17/24

Eric had the day off so I took him on a date day for the afternoon bike & beer tour. 🍻

Grand Haven was prepping to host both Jeep Festival and Kite Festival. We had a blast kicking off the weekend with Jeff and Natalie, who were in town for Jeep fest!

We biked to our first stop . I couldn’t believe my eyes - they had turned on their iconic alcoholic slushy machine for the weekend. Normally doesn’t happen until Memorial Day! 😋

On our cruise down to the beach, we saw tons of ducked-out jeeps!*

The second surprise of the ride was when we pulled up at and discovered the owners of had created a new restaurant, Gnarly Varleys! Just as delicious btw 👍

Thankfully, they kept my all-time- favorite pickle bbq nachos on the new menu. 😅 Don’t knock it till you try it!

From there we biked on the boardwalk and past the Jeep fest obstacle course set up. I forgot to take a picture, but imagine a parking lot and filled with sand piles, ramps, etc for Jeeps to navigate through! Kinda like a large scale dirt bike course.

We finished the ride with ice cream from 🍦

People don’t believe me when I say Norms has the worlds largest sizes so here’s proof. I got a baby twist with sprinkles - baby! - and it was still almost the size of my head!!

It was a perfect afternoon, couldn’t think of a better day date idea in Grand Haven! 🥰

Mothers Day Weekend Sunset Ride Recap

These sweet daughters treated their mom to a weekend getaway in Grand Haven. Now I’m not a mom, but I have to imagine time together (while having fun!) is one of the best Mother’s Day gifts adult children can give. 🥰

It was a bit chilly but still comfortable. The sky was bright and clear, perfect for a sunset and even better for the spectacular Aurora Borealis appearance later in the evening. 🤩

We biked to where the trio enjoy appetizers in their outdoor “backyard” space. Then we biked to the beach and biked along the pier to watch the sun start to set.

On our way back, we stopped at Pronto Pups for the first time Grand Haven visitors to see what all the hype is about! 😋

We switched from 80s Rock to Dua Lipa radio and jammed while biking to for dessert!

Pro tip for the lactose intolerant - the dairy-free coconut ice cream is amazing.

What’s the point if you’re not having fun? 🤩

5/11/24 Morning Bike & Brew

These sweet friends met in the middle (one lives in Chicago, the other Traverse City) for a mom’s getaway on Mother’s Day weekend.

It was chilly and windy, but that didn’t stop us from having a ton of fun!

Since they are both mid-westerners they came prepared with layers to bundle up. 👍

Stop #1 was perfect for the long time friends to catch up (and warm up!) while enjoying coffee and scones.

We biked down to the beach and were mesmerized by the surfers, wind surfers, and kite surfers. The air the kite surfers were catching was unbelievable!!

The pier was open, but a bit slick from the waves and wind, so we dedicated to walk it instead of bike it. Pictures don’t do the stormy sky justice!

This was both of their first time in Grand Haven, so they grabbed a few snacks from walk up window and explored the shops downtown.

In classic Michigan fashion, as we biked back to it felt like someone flipped a switch - the sun came out, temperature rose at least 5 degrees, and clouds opened up to blue skies. 🙃

Wish it could have been like that the while time. Regardless I’m so impressed with how positive and upbeat the ladies were despite the less-than-perfect weather. 🎉🎉🎉

Goes to show, rain or shine you can have a great time!
