So gorgeous and inspiring to see the regrowth of wildflowers and foliage after the devastating East Troublesome Fire. Love Grand County!

Green Mountain trail in Grand Lake, Colorado is a beautiful hike any time of year, but it's especially stunning right now! After the East Troublesome Fire in 2020, wildflowers have carpeted the forest floor in a riot of color. You'll see lupines to columbines to wild roses, & so many more!

The fire actually helped to create this wildflower explosion. The heat from the fire opened up the soil and allowed more sunlight to reach the ground. This created ideal conditions for wildflower seeds to germinate and grow.

So, if you're looking for a beautiful hike with stunning wildflowers, this is the hike for you! Customize this trail in Rocky Mountain National Park to fit your day - hike 3.5 miles to Big Meadows, make it a loop hooking up with the Onahu Creek trail, or just go for the wildflowers that dominate the start of the trail.

A visit to Rocky Mountain National Park during the spring can be a magical time. There are fewer crowds, and it's easy to enjoy solitude and snow on a wilderness adventure. ❄️

Be prepared for spring hiking conditions in the Rockies. Wear waterproof boots, dress in layers and bring a hat and gloves. Always check the weather before your trip begins, and be prepared to turn back if conditions change.
