All trails groomed for skate and classic skiing. Snow in the last 24 hours: 7”. Snow in the last 7 days: 12”. Snow in the woods: 28”. Conditions are excellent.

Angels, Maybe

Forgive me, asking for a miracle
when this very morning I held
a ripe tomato in my hand, still warm,
as if the sun had followed me in
from the garden.

All spring I watched bees
visit the vine, singing at the alter
of every flower, a golden incense
of pollen rising
from their shimmering wings.

I was in the company of angels, maybe
their celestial bodies
bumping against mine, bearing witness.

I should have known
it would be a summer of abundance,
miracles harvested by the bushel.

Our Ole dome is finished and ready to book on our website! It sleeps 2 comfortably on the beds and could fit a couple smaller people (or kids) on camp mats on the floor. Our Ole dome will be opening in 2 weeks for more glamping availability- just 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais! We’ve swapped the queen bed for two twins so that there are more sleeping options for our guests- push them together to make a king bed if you want to get cozy❤️

A poem for those of you who love to get a little lost in the natural world❤️

Stand still.
The trees ahead and the bushes beside you Are not lost.
Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,
Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,

New Snow Last 24 hours: 0”
New Snow Last 7 Days: 4-6”
Packed base depth: 1-3”
Snow depth in woods: 11”

Pincushion Loop, North Advanced Loop, Hilfiker Hill, Morris Maze, Canyon Curves and the B & B Loop have been re-groomed for skating and classic styles. West Overlook has its skating lane re-set.

Conditions are good to very good, considering the low-snow conditions.

Another Pincushion trail grooming report from Friday, January 12:
Winter is here! We received about 4-5” of new snow up to now with more falling today.

Stadium, East and West Overlook and Upper and Lower Snowman and Pincushion Loop are fully groomed and tracked. Work continues on advanced trails.

Get out and enjoy the skiing before the polar vortex arrives over the weekend.

Pincushion Trails Grooming Update…time to ski!!

Wednesday, January 10,
All the green trails at Pincushion are groomed for classic and skate skiing. They are Stadium, East and West Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowman.
Conditions are very good considering having only 6″ of snow in the woods. The packed base is 3″. There are a few icy patches and few small dirt spots. Please ski with extreme caution.

*Trails are maintained and groomed by the Pincushion Ski and Run Club

We continue to make updates to the house and realized that we needed photos to reflect these! New beds, new appliances, furniture, etc, we’re continuing to have fun making the space comfortable and beautiful! Thanks to for these lovely new pictures of our space. She has captured the peace and cozy vibes so well…since we have little kids, it’s also a space that is meant to be lived in and can handle some rowdy play!

Our winter calendar is opening soon! The Haus is a prime Grand Marais winter spot with cross country ski trails just steps from the front door. There are trails for all levels of experience, so everyone can join in on the fun! Jump in the sauna after a day on the trails or curl up by the fireplace with a good book. We’re just 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais, so you can easily pop into town for the amazing food and shops!

Pincushion Trail grooming update! New Snow: 6 in Packed Base: 8-16 All Green trails were groomed and tracked earlier today as well as the trails that will be used for the 5km and 3km courses for the Cook County Invitational high school ski meet on Friday. We’re expecting over 200 kids from schools across the region. Races start in the stadium beginning at 11 AM on Friday. Racers will finish in front of the chalet. Spectators are welcome!
