A couple years ago, we took a trip to Vermont and New Hampshire. The colors were beautiful. The last week of September and first week of October are when the colors hit peak in the area. I would recommend a fall trip to these two states, but also be aware that it can be packed with people on weekends due to the popularity of these two states as a fall color destination.

Look for the fall foliage closer to the mountains develop in Mid-September. The areas closer to the ocean usually start turning closer to Mid-October.

Autumn is a beautiful time in Japan. The uppermost part of Japan starts fall color season in Mid September and the fall season extents to the lower parts of Japan into November.

Be sure to check out NPS.Gov to check on possible timed entry reservations. Arcadia National Park was recently added to the National Parks that are requiring reservations due to high volume of visitors.

A Throwback Thursday Photo -- Several years ago our family went to Hawaii. We were driving in Haleakala National Park when a car lost control and struck ups. I went into shock from the airbags hitting me and ended up in the hospital. My brother and I had a little fun in the hospital room (with the doctor's permission of course).

Here is why insurance is so important when on vacation. Yes, our medical insurance covered the hospital bills. However, the cost of the ambulance was not covered. When you get travel insurance, always talk with the insurance agent to find out where coverage lies.

You never know when you might need it.

Oh Boy! I am looking forward to going on my first cruise. I am heading off to the Caribbean. Tim was able to set me up on a cruise that offers so many activities while on board. This is going to be the vacation of a lifetime!

It is also hurricane season so Tim recommended insurance just in case something goes wrong. I am glad I got it because you never know. I have seen too many cruises interrupted by inclement weather.

I made my way out to Alaska and am quite impressed with all this state has to offer. Many think Alaska is glaciers and vast snow covered lands. However, Alaska is much more than that.
