Announcing the 2025 Chilly Challenge!

For the SEVENTH year in a row, Downtown Grand Rapids Inc and Grand Rapids Running Tours bring you the annual FREE Chilly Challenge - a series of walking tours through downtown Grand Rapids, for which participants are rewarded a $25 gift card for perfect attendance. For seven Thursdays in a row, meeting at the same time - noon - and place - the lobby of the JW Marriott Hotel - your guide, Caroline Cook, will lead you on a unique one hour walk.

For those in the group who have been in attendance on most or many of the previous walks, they know that Caroline always says at the conclusion of each walk…”And there is so much more to show you, but we’re out of time!” So, this year, the theme is to bring the walkers “the rest of the story”!

February 6 Miles and Miles of Murals…Part Two
Swirling all about us in Grand Rapids, vibrant artwork appears outside on sides of buildings, underneath highway overpasses, on retaining walls, street surfaces and utility boxes. Viewing these murals is both a study in local history and sheer expressions of creativity.

February 13 Park to Park to Park…Part One
As we walk between the multitude of parks within our city, you’ll hear the where-why-when narrative of these oases in the city. You’ll then appreciate the early heroes of our park efforts and the re-commitment of today’s park leaders.
