The house was built in 1935 by Richard Lewis Cayo and June Margarite Presteen Cayo. They married in November 1933. They moved into a small section of this home July 4th, 1935. It was the day before their first daughter Cynthia Ann (Cayo) Goddard was born. Their next child was born Sept 23, 1936 Jacklyn Mae (Cayo) Breedis. There also was a barn on the property where Dick milked cows. Dick continued to add on to the home through the years. One of the upgrades through the years was a indoor bathroom If you talk to Cynthia and Jackie today they can tell you some great stories about the outhouse. In fact in the upstairs east bedroom you will see a buzzer in the north east corner of the room. They used this to alert grandpa and grandma that they needed to go to the bathroom or were just scared. The last add on to the house was on the west side. It was the formal living room, dining room and galley kitchen. That was done in the early 60’s. Dick passed away in October of 1977 picking the potatoes in one of his fields. We always say he died doing something he loved. He loved his gardening. June continued to live in the house and giving piano lessons. She passed away May of 2008. Cynthia and Jackie were left the house and that is when Dale and I purchased it. It has been a labor of love for me (Robin) as we continue to work on it updating and remodeling. This is the home I was brought home to when I was born. Spent much time here and loved every minute being with my grandparents. It was my home away from home.
