We'd like to spotlight Rebuilding Hollers - Come Hell or High Waters for what they have done and are doing for the community. They made "Roses Parking Lot" known Nationwide within days of the storm coming. They've helped facilitate thousands of supplies and donations to people that absolutely need it.

They've turned focus to building and rebuilding the Mountains, because noone is coming to save Yancey and Mitchell Counties. It will take donations and support from outside to complete this. Please take a look at their page and donate/support where you can. Thank you!

Just wanted to give a little update on the amazing support we have been giving Yancey county thanks to ALL OF YOU! 💪🏻💥

We've been diligently working behind the scenes and via weekly runs to the area taking only requested items, fulfilling individual needs and sending much needed goods to those displaced.

Thanks to you all we've been able to provide generators, heaters, winter gear, work gear, essential supplies and even some Christmas wishlist items to those families who lost everything. We've also been able to provide volunteers thanks to so many reaching out and wanting to help- a truly invaluable tool at the moment.

We can promise you all of your donations (physical and monetary) are going to the best use possible and being taken where NEEDED.

We'd like to thank our friend for her incredible commitment to providing for the community, for weeks on end. And a special thank you to church in Tega Cay for being on call for any support including having a roof fixed for a family of five within days of the request.

We are continuing to evolve our support as needs progress and are happy to do so as long as needed. We can. So we will. 🫶🏼

This is why clothes aren't being accepted as donations in the majority of centers and cities‼️

When you just bag up clothes this is the result that volunteers are left with. This is an actual donation site in Burnsville. They are already completely overwhelmed and under powered with hands on help and very limited indoor space. ALL distribution sites are BEGGING for volunteers to help sort.

IF you have somewhere accepting clothing please:
▪️ONLY donate new or like new (no holes, stains, etc)
▪️SORT AND LABEL (Gender, Size, Type, Season)
▪️ ONLY donate clothes that can be used right now

This will greatly help the chaos that has ensued. They want to clothe their locals, they want the items to help, but this has just become too much for most 😫.

If you want to take a trip and volunteer let us know and we can direct you!

It's getting cold ya'll and the power is still out for most homes, especially up the mountain.

If you have:
Generators
Portable Heaters
Portable power banks (used for camping)
Propane
Kerosene
Camping stoves

We will take them.

The remaining power outages from are now just under 21,000 customers for the state. The worst counties that are still out: Mitchell County is 32% out, Yancey is 30% out, Avery is 8%, and Buncombe is 7%.

GIANT Thank You to Slate Storage Tega Cay for donating storage space to our relief efforts.💥

This has been a true saving grace to allow us to continue to serve Yancey & Mitchell counties longer term. They were willing to give us whatever we needed, no questions asked. The Tega Cay/Fort Mill community has been outstanding with their support and we are so grateful!

Happy Saturday to our amazing supporters!

First off we cannot thank you all enough for the insane way you've rallied to help not just WNC but our Rusty's Roost home- the small counties of Yancey and Mitchell. We've gotten so many messages about faith in humanity being restored because of what each of YOU have been able to accomplish. It's humbling. It's heartwarming. It's, literally, mind blowing.

It's been just 1 week since the devastation and we've made such an impact on the folks of these small towns it's truly remarkable.

For the following update please note we are ONLY speaking for Burnsville and the areas we have supported.

After Rusty's drop yesterday, speaking to on the ground officials and civilians, ranging from EMS, rescue, shelter coordinators and the likes, we have determined they need time.

Everyone is reading reports that places "are full" or "they are good" - this DOES NOT mean they have enough supplies for the locals for the longevity of this recovery. What it does mean is their capacity to handle these supplies and donations (and professional help in some cases) is maxed. This is a great problem to have- it means we have done a great service to these people. However our help and other aid then becomes a disservice. It's important to know when it's time to pause and that's what we are going to do.

They don't need any help (other than organizing), they don't need large equipment just showing up, they don't need major trucks overwhelming the few volunteers on site to sort and distribute- there have been so many volunteers these immediate needs are filled and that was our goal 💙. Now they need to catch their breath, organize and regroup.

With that being said any items you have already collected we will 100% take. We are asking our drop off sites to pause their collections this week as well- we will get all donated items from them to date this week. These items will be delivered in a couple weeks right where they need to go. Supplies are being given out freely (not rationed) so these needs will re-arise for certain and your donations will not be wasted. Our job now is to not over burden the drop sites or volunteers and to be there when they need us back- we can, so we will 💪🏻🫶🏼.

For monetary donations - money collected that has not been spent towards aid will continue to fulfill direct needs we are told from our on the ground folks whether it's equipment, service to a particular family or individual, medical needs and so forth. Please know this support will not stop and is spent on direct aid from people in the trenches.

As we approach our next drop we will update a supplies list if there are any new direct needs. For example things are slowly shifting towards clean up vs rescue (think shovels, rakes, buckets)- but this is ever evolving and we will keep everyone posted as time goes.

For larger needs please keep an eye on our social media pages for requests and things we may be on the hunt for as we continue our support. We are blessed to have direct feeds from the area and able to help in those ways when possible.

What can you do?
The Burnsville drop sites DO need volunteers at shelters for organizing, distributing, sorting. If this is something you are called to do please reach out to us and we can direct you.

THANK YOU ALL!
