Looking for some helpers - I am DIY writing a book/course on sleep for infants and toddlers (it has seven modules, each module has five lessons) - and I am putting the not-quite- finishing touches (for now) on it over the next few days.

I am looking for:
- 2-3 people who are excellent proof-readers and willing to spend about a half-hour (ish?) going over grammar and spelling, *not content*, just a cursory review.
- Several (?) people who are parents with young children who would be willing to spend time reading either one module, or the entire seven modules if you really want, and letting me know if the content is okay - if it's helpful, practical, written in a way that you understand, logical, useful, etc. ... I'll offer free access to the completed product once it is finished as a thank you.

I am not ready to send anything out yet so it'll be a few more days, but if you're interested, please comment or message me.

This might be what makes me eat a steak 😜

Surf & Turf in Creamy Cajun Sauce

INGREDIENTS:
1 tsp olive oil
5 ounces steak
7 ounces shrimp
10.5 ounces cauliflower
1/2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup veg broth
1 cup almond milk
1/2 tsp cajun seasoning
1 tsp dijon mustard
1 clove garlic
2 Tbsp reduced fat parmesan cheese
1 tsp lemon juice
Sprinkle parsley

DIRECTIONS:
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the steaks and sear until lightly browned on both sides and cooked to the desired level of doneness, before setting aside.
Reduce the heat to medium, add the butter and let it melt before adding the shrimp and cooking until just pink on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side, and set aside.
In a separate small pot, add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about a minute.
Add the vegetable broth and deglaze the pan by scraping up any brown bits from the bottom with a wooden spoon as the broth sizzles.
Add the almond milk, mix in the dijon mustard and cajun seasoning, bring to a low boil and let simmer for a minute.
Mix in the cheese and let it melt into the sauce.
Mix in the lemon juice, parsley and shrimp then set aside.
Place cauliflower florets (uncooked) into blender or food processor. Once riced, add to frying pan and steam with a small amount of water.
Plate the rice then add steak and creamy shrimp sauce and serve!

Makes 2 Servings
Per serving: 1 lean, 3 greens, 3 condiments

Shepherds Pie w Mashed Turnips (my favvveeeeeee)

Ingredients
1¼ lbs. 85-94% lean ground lamb or beef
1 cup celery, sliced
1½ cup cremini mushrooms, chopped
1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
½ tsp ground black pepper
8 tsp almond flour
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup fat-free chicken stock
3½ cups turnips, cubed into ½-inch pieces
2 tbsp fat-free milk
1 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese

Directions
Start the ground lamb or beef in a cold, oven safe skillet placed over high heat. Cook for 10 minutes, or until browned, chopping it up with a wooden spoon.
Reduce the heat to medium and add the celery, mushrooms, rosemary, and black pepper. Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes more until vegetables start to soften and liquid from mushrooms evaporates.
Stir in the almond flour, followed by the stock. Bring to a boil, then simmer on a low heat with the lid on for 10 minutes to thicken. Remove from heat then stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
Preheat your oven to 350ᵒF.
In a large pan of boiling water, cook the cubed turnips for 10 minutes, or until cooked through. Drain well, return to pot, and mash with a fork or potato masher. Stir in the milk and fold in the shredded cheese.
Dollop spoonfuls of mashed turnips on top of the ground meat.
Bake for 30 minutes uncovered, or until golden and bubbling.


Nutrition Facts: makes 4 servings
Nutrition Per Serving: 390 calories, 20g fat, 11g carbohydrate, 37g protein

Ingredients
•1¼ lb. beef chuck, visible fat removed, cut 1 to 1½-inch cubes
•2 garlic cloves, minced
•1 tbsp tomato paste
•2 tsp poultry or Italian seasoning
•3 cups water, divided
•1½ cups turnips, peeled and cut into large dice
•1½ cups cauliflower, cut into large florets
•1½ cups green cabbage, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
•1½ cup button mushrooms, washed and halved
•½ tsp kosher salt
•½ tsp ground black pepper

Directions
1. Heat a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Season the beef with half of the salt and pepper. Dry sear the beef until evenly browned, and transfer beef to a large pot.
2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together garlic, tomato paste, poultry or Italian seasoning and 1 cup of water. Pour the mixture over the beef along with the remaining 2 cups of water. Bring the water to a boil and reduce the heat to maintain a gentle simmer. Allow the beef to cook until fairly tender, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
3. Once the beef is tender, add the turnips and allow to cook for 7 to 10 minutes. Add the cauliflower and cabbage and continue cooking for 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms along with the remaining salt and pepper and continue cooking for an additional 10 minutes.
4. Portion out about 2½ cups of stew per serving.

Makes 4 servings.

Nutrition Per Serving: 340 calories, 32g protein, 10g carb, 20g fat

What does healthy mean to you?

In my first conversation with someone who asks about the program I coach, I ask what their health goals are. The answers are different for everyone, but for many people, it falls into these general classifications:

-They want to eat better, reduce sugar, or learn to balance their macros (most don't use this term, but it's what it boils down to -- avoiding extremes like low/no carb or high fat)
-They want to be more active (for themself, their partner, their kids/grandkids)
-They want to have a healthier body - either gaining weight or losing weight
-They want to sleep better and wake up rested with energy for the day

Identifying your goals is a huge first step. Then we work to focus those goals to something more specific and tangible - yes, that's part of the program too!
Asking for help is hard, but when help is available, why turn it down?

Wanna know a secret?

Getting healthy isn't about the food.
Yes - eating nutritious and balanced food is critically important, but we all know that.

It's about the mind shift regarding food.
It's about learning to change how you view food, and reframe how and why you eat food.
It's about learning new habits so that you can fuel your body properly, with the exact nutrients it needs, when you need it.

For me, that meant not eating just because I'm bored, or because there's easy snacks in front of me (gosh this one is HARD), or because I'm stressed. It's learning appropriate portion sizes. It's choosing not to lick the peanut butter off the knife after you make a PB&J sandwich for your kid, and choosing not to eat their leftovers in an effort not to waste food. It's about knowing you can be full and satisfied without finishing the entire dish at a restaurant (and box it up or have the server remove your plate, so you don't keep mindlessly eating). It's about BEING INTENTIONAL in what you eat and drink.

THIS IS WHY THIS PROGRAM WORKS SO WELL. Every other time I've focused on the food - I wasn't doing the mental work to really learn new habits. I was following a program (ahem, a "diet") and it was temporary - I could manipulate the nutrition to just not eat all day and then eat and drink junk in the evening, or justify eating junk because I worked out, or will workout. As we spring forward, some babies do fine with the spring forward time change, and some struggle. Helping your little ones adjust to the time change can be a breeze with these tips:

🕐Gradual Adjustments: Start shifting bedtime and nap times by 15 minutes earlier each day leading up to the time change.
🕑Natural Light Exposure: Encourage exposure to natural light in the morning to help regulate their internal clock.
🕒Consistent Bedtime Routine: Stick to a consistent bedtime routine to signal to your baby that it’s time to wind down and prepare for sleep.
🕓Comfortable Sleep Environment: Ensure your baby’s sleep space is conducive to rest with a comfortable temperature and minimal distractions.
🕔Patience and Flexibility: Remember, it may take a few days for your baby to fully adjust, so be patient and flexible during this transition period.
