A reading tonight from Psalm 25:6-7:
“6 Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good.”
Can any of you identify with this prayer of David, a man that God said was after God’s own heart? My worst sins and “rebellious ways,” were most certainly in my youth. I most certainly can identify with this cry of God’s servant David. Many of my ways were contrary to God’s scripture and God’s direction, and yet as the scripture says, God’s mercies are never ending.
Laminations 3: 22-24 teaches, “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
What an incredible God we serve! His love for us constrains Him to forget the sin of those who accept His great gift of salvation, and to move on with His love as if such things had never occurred. All praise be to the Lord, the author and perfecter of our faith!
