Greenville is widely recognized as the cultural, educational, economic, and medical hub of Eastern North Carolina. While retaining our Southern charm, Greenville has grown into a thriving, small metropolitan city of 90,000 in the heart of Pitt County with a population of nearly 175,000 residents. Consistently ranked among the best performing small metros in the United States by the Milken Institut

e, and in the Top 10 “Best Small Places for Business and Careers” by Forbes magazine in 2012, Greenville is home to East Carolina University, Vidant Medical Center, the expanding Greenville Convention Center Campus, a vibrant Uptown District, a strong industrial community, and an increasing number of locally-owned small businesses and restaurants. Greenville-Pitt County is located along the banks of the Tar River, in the north central coastal plain region of Eastern North Carolina, approximately 85 miles east of Raleigh, the capital city of North Carolina and 87 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean. Our area features numerous waterways, including 324 acres along River Park North offering boating, fishing, birding, and canoeing. Our community is also fortunate to have one of the most extensive recreation and greenway systems in the region, earning the City of Greenville recognition as a Playful City USA by KaBoom magazine. With close to 300 years of history on our side, visitors can find museums, historic sites, and artifacts that tell the story of Greenville-Pitt County from the before the American Revolution up until the present day. Visitors can expect to enjoy a relatively mild climate and experience all four seasons each year. The distinct combination of affordability, excellent geographic location and natural resources, along with our cultural, economic, educational, and medical communities make Greenville-Pitt County a preferred destination where business and leisure travelers are sure to find good company.
