About Perch Lake
Perch Lake is a 55-acre private spring-feed all-sports lake in Montcalm Township near Gowen. Weed control of the lake is maintained through a special assessment paid by property owners around the lake and property owners of the Holiday Beach Plot that have access to Perch Lake via our boat launch and 2 parks that are on the lake. In addition to the assessment that covers weed cont

rol, the beauty and tranquility of our small community is made possible through dedicated efforts of volunteers who pitch in to make our lake and the surrounding area enjoyable to all who live and visit here. Please become a part of that volunteer force by assisting in simple thoughtful acts such as picking up trash along our roadways, making road signs visible by trimming the vegetation, or grass cutting and leaf cleanup in our parks.

There are 2 homeowners associations around Perch Lake. Holiday Beach Association on the north and west side of the lake is the largest comprised of approximately 100 property owners, 70 homes, and over 3 miles of private roads which are maintained through a special property assessment. The board of trustees of this association are non-paid volunteers who truly care about maintaining and improving the roads, parks, and boat launch while making sure it is accessible and enjoyable by all members and guests. Being non-paid, our board members deserve everyone’s respectful appreciation and thanks! The smaller association of 20 property owners is Johansen Beach/Morgan Dr. on the east side of the lake. This website is supported through the volunteer efforts of the Holiday Beach Association.

We are happy to share that Affordable Road Grading has agreed to offer their snow plow services to HBA members for the Winter 2024 season. Road Repair Update: Miss Dig is running a bit behind and we are waiting for approval to proceed. We are hoping to begin work on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Thanks to a generous donation, the HBA Board is pleased to offer a Back-to-School supply giveaway for our families on Wednesday, August 14th between 4-5 p.m. at the swim park. Good news! We have been quietly working behind-the-scenes to find a more permanent solution and fix the roads. As of this morning, we have confirmation and are able to share that Phase 1 is scheduled to begin next week! The current plan is to accomplish this in three phases over (a yet undetermined) amount of time so that we can budget accordingly and inspect the quality of the work. Barring any unexpected surprises, work is expected to begin on Holiday/Starling from Holland Lake to Sidney Road on Tuesday, August 6. Based on the quality and satisfaction with Phase 1, we plan to have roads to the east and west done in the future.

Our intent is to address the drainage issues that lead to road deterioration. Please understand this will come with some challenges. Traffic will be disrupted at times next week and we cannot brine until the work is completed. Due to cost, this means side streets will not be getting brine either (the cost to bring trucks in for side streets alone is prohibitive). The week of August 5 might be a bit challenging, but if you ‘pardon our dust’ a bit longer, we should all see improvement.

please do not swim in Perch Lake until after 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21.

Lake treatment is scheduled for this Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Please plan accordingly!

The lake survey is complete and treatment should begin early next week. We don't know the exact dates, but will update as more information is available.

The lake management team will be out around 9 a.m. on June 3 to map out harvest areas. The harvester is scheduled for the week of June 10.

The lake is fine and safe to use!

This morning, both channels were sprayed with an herbicide to kill the aggressive Milfoil w**d. The herbicide is safe to humans; it is not a pesticide or insecticide. However, it needs 24 hours to dry on the Milfoil for maximum effectiveness. It would be helpful to avoid the channels until dry.

The lake is open and can be enjoyed this weekend.
