Dear Community Members,

We’re thrilled to announce the allocation of funds generated through the recent total solar eclipse event in Greenville, Maine. Your overwhelming support and participation made this event a resounding success, and we’re delighted to reinvest the proceeds back into our vibrant community.

Here’s how the funds will be distributed:

• $5,000 to the YES Project and Moosehead Caring for Kids Foundation: Supporting initiatives that empower our youth and enhance the well-being of children in our area.
• $1,000 to Forest Heritage Days: Contributing to the preservation and celebration of our rich forestry heritage.
• $1,000 to a Scholarship Fund for Greenville High School Graduates: Investing in the future by providing educational opportunities to our local students, on going.
• $3,000 for a Seniors Project: While still in the planning stages, this project aims to support and enrich the lives of our senior community members. Stay tuned for updates as we finalize the details, with the project likely to commence in October.

We recognize the abundance of worthy causes in our community, and we’re humbled to play a part in supporting them. Our recent pop-up shop not only raised funds but also fostered connections and brought us closer as a community. We’re immensely grateful for the opportunity to meet and engage with so many wonderful individuals.

Looking ahead, we’re excited about the potential to harness this momentum and continue making positive contributions to our community. Together, we can build a brighter future for Greenville, where every member thrives.

The Moosehead Solar Eclipse Committee would like to express a huge amount of gratitude to everyone that supported our mission and endeavors. It has not gone unnoticed. Meeting all of you and being able to witness the once in a lifetime experience was amazing and made all the hard work worth it. 🙌🏻
While we reflect on the successes our team has accomplished we have further planning and sorting to finalize. We plan to make an announcement where the funds will be distributed in the coming weeks!

As we embark on the weekend preceding the upcoming solar eclipse, the Moosehead Lake Solar Eclipse Planning Committee would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all who have contributed, volunteered, and supported this remarkable endeavor.

With just six members, the committee understands the paramount importance of public safety for the Town. It was our intention to collaborate with Town officials, Destination Moosehead Lake, residents, and local businesses. We are committed to ensuring a memorable experience for all, especially the many newcomers drawn to our picturesque region.

Our gratitude is immense for the generous donation from Moosehead Lake Kiwanis Club, which supported our first apparel order, to Barry and Beth Frankel for providing the space in the Shaw Block building for our solar eclipse headquarters pop-up shop as well as other generous donations which meant the banners, apparel and merchandise wouldn't be possible.

A Special thanks also goes to Kevin Adrien of Trailside Restaurant at Leisure Life Resort and Charlie Aucoin of Aucoin Property Services for their invaluable assistance in installing the necessary brackets for the solar eclipse banners displayed throughout town. Additionally, gratitude to Chuck Mason of CB Mason, Inc. for donating materials and building the giant viewing glasses for installation at the school.

Your support fuels our enthusiasm, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming you this weekend!

😎 Visiting Maine for the solar eclipse on April 8?

Being totally prepared for the Maine outdoors is the best way to make sure your experience in the path of totality isn't eclipsed by an emergency situation. Here are a few things you should know before you pack your solar eclipse glasses and head for northern Maine.

🗺 Cell coverage is not reliable in rural locations. Do not rely on GPS.
🚗 It's mud season! Many dirt roads are not passable.
🏕 Plan ahead and expect seasonal campground, road, and trail closures.
🥶 Ice conditions will not be safe on the vast majority of waterways by April, and open water temperatures will still be dangerously cold.
🏔 Spring hiking conditions in Maine can be treacherous. Expect mud, snow, ice, and fast-changing weather.
🐻 Black bears will be awake. Aggressive encounters are rare, but be aware.
🌲 Most land in Maine is privately owned. Respect landowners to support continued access.

April is our mud season and the lake is unsafe so we strongly advise and suggest you avoid that and dirt roads.
