Millrace Project Phase 2 has begun. Some foundation work under the Mill on the North side will occur over the next month or so. The Mill will remain open during our regular hours, but there may be limited parking at times, and the North side of the Mill (deck and yard) will be closed off. Bear's Mill is hosting a RECIPE CONTEST and is asking our local community to participate!

Anyone can submit! We just ask for honesty claiming that you have made the recipe your own, and it uses at least 50% of Bear’s Mill’s stone ground flours or cornmeal. For example: if the recipe calls for 4 cups of all purpose flour, you put in 2 cups flour, and 2 cups Bear’s Mill cake flour.

Win prizes, have your recipe with your name published, and to help Bear’s Mill create a beautiful comprehensive recipe book. A new recipe book will help promote our healthy, stone-ground flours and guide other people on how to better use them!

Prizes include beautiful, functional bakeware pottery donated by the Millrace Potters, Bear’s Mill flour, and a free copy of the final published recipe book.

Today, Dec. 7, is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Did you know a local man was the person responsible for alerting Washington, D.C. about the attack? You can learn more about him when you visit the museum today during our open house celebrating 75 years of the museum. There is free admission from 10 am to 4 pm. Donations are encouraged.
