2024 was undoubtedly a year for personal bests. Here’s my biggest blackfish to date. 10/18/24 - Western Long Island Sound 28.6” Safely released. Estimated over 20 years old 🤯 The rod used to land this beast was a Douglas LRS S725XF 7’2” 8-14lb. 3/8-1 1/4oz. That model effortlessly became my favorite for inshore bottom fishing. Later today, I’ll post the video of this beast!

New personal best steelhead 🔥 36.5”
After 12 minutes of tug-of-war, my dad went from the worst net man to the best. He came up big with the assist. The weather was perfect, and the fish were hungry. Feel free to estimate the weight in the comment section

For 26 years, this fish species has found a way to elude me on the Salmon River. On 10/07/24, I came across my first Atlantic Salmon, aka Salmon River Unicorn 🦄 It was a bittersweet moment that made my entire season.

It’s been an excellent start to the fall, with many new memories and connections made. I'm down to my last two groups to wrap up this year's Salmon run and transition to Blackfish in Connecticut. Once again, thank you to everyone who's joined us. We appreciate it more than you know!

Shoutout to our young anglers for landing some excellent catches these past two weeks! The next generation is looking good 🙌🏼

Between me and my Father, we certainly worked hard to make these trips memorable. I couldn't help but feel nostalgia reminding me of when I was a kid fishing for the first time.

I'm glad to be in the position to witness the pure happiness and enjoyment of the kids who joined us. Many more to come!

Blackfish (Tautog) season update #1

Last year's blackfish season was nothing short of spectacular! We definitely put our time in and the results were great. The western Long Island isn’t like the ocean. You have to earn them here. This isn’t Newport, MTK, or Ocean City. To catch a limit here you have to fish hard. Little details make a huge difference and everyday things change.

I’m frequently asked “what’s your favorite fish to target in the sound”? That’s an easy answer - BLACKFISH! Why? There excellent fighters, amazing to eat, and fun to catch. On a good bite they can provide action the entire day. You also never know when that double digit will eat your crab and test your gear. It certainly takes skill and finesse to pull these fish out of their homes.

We have great anglers that join us every year to take on this challenge. We’re really looking forward to this fall!

Lake Ontario 2024

Lake Ontario is experiencing one of the best Salmon bites they've had in years on both the west and east end. Me and my father have spent years now trying to get dialed into the lake fishery.

Complex is a good word to use for the styles, techniques, and technology needed to achieve success. Even after investing thousands in gear you still have to build a reliable network and hope for a few good friends to help along the way. I love challenges and this for sure has been one.

The amount of time also invested in research, reading reports, and watching over 1,000 minutes of YouTube videos relating to king salmon on both Lake Michigan and Lake Ontario is real.

Thank you to the Fat Nancy’s crew for being patient, sharing their knowledge, and pointing us in the right direction. Shout out to Maynard for bringing me out on the lake for the first time and creating another addiction I did not need lol. Thanks to for sharing intel with me and for filleting our salmon.

Lastly thanks to all the captains who I haven't met but provide a daily report which I'm able to benefit from to guide how the fishing is! All of these things have to come together for you to set yourself on the path for potentially a great day. Fishing isn’t a guarantee and you still have to put all those tools together to make something happen! When they do come together the results can be pretty special!

This is only just scratching the surface with still so much to learn. For now, I'm content and happy with the results! It should be a good year on the river.

Update #1 - The 2023 Salmon Season was nothing short of phenomenal! We dedicated a lot of time and covered many miles on the water. The rewards were exceptional. I had the pleasure of sharing all of these experiences with great individuals. I never had a chance to thank everyone who joined us on last year's Salmon season. Seriously, thank you! You guys all made it a special year.

Now with that being said this year is going to be even bigger. I still have availability left with a few prime dates including weekends! I'm extremely selective and picky about the people I want to spend the day with salmon fishing. I'm fortunate to say that my business is no longer you pick me but the other way around. If I feel like you or your crew aren't the right fit I will be fully transparent. I'm looking for clients who are going to fully appreciate and respect this amazing fishery!

Congratulations, Pedro, on joining the 50lb club and fish of a lifetime 👏 50’ length x 29’ girth. The fish was handled with the utmost care and released safely. Seeing a specimen that size never gets old. Pedro said that when this striped bass hit it quickly made its own rules giving an excellent battle and trying to escape. Luckily he was able to bring it close enough to lay the net under and secure this trophy! This is right up there with our biggest fish of the season. Epic night 🔥

Congratulations, Emma, on joining the 50lb club 🔥 At 52 inches, this beast is one of the biggest we've had on my boat! The strike was so violent with this bass going airborne within seconds of being hooked. This fish took 300 feet of wire out before we could get a crank in. Emma did a great job staying cool, calm, and collected throughout the entire battle. After landing this trophy, she was handled with care and safely released after a quick picture.

We're one week away from kicking off the Striped Bass season! Based on the early reports and the upcoming nice weather, opening day could be epic! Another upside is it opens on a Monday, so boat traffic should be less than last year. This new Moon phase should make things interesting as well. I'll keep everyone updated
