You can still catch a movie at the El Rio, a 108-year-old adobe movie house that once showed silent films with a hand-cranked projector. Today, it still uses its original popcorn machine, adding a nostalgic touch to your movie-going experience. No doubt, Springerville, Arizona still retains its historical charm.

El Rio Theatre, Arizona’s oldest movie theatre, was originally built in 1913 and opened in 1915 as the Apache Theatre, showcasing silent films on a hand-cranked projector. Renamed El Rio in 1937, the theatre became a cherished community hub, creating lasting memories for generations of children who enjoyed Saturday morning serials like Roy Rogers, Tarzan, and The Lone Ranger. In 2015, El Rio celebrated its centennial, marking over a century of history and evolution. Purchased in 2014, the theatre transitioned to modern digital projection and Dolby Surround Sound while preserving its legacy as a cultural landmark.

I am not against alternative energy. I am in favor of a healthy planet. Wind turbines are not the “green” solution. Keep them out of Apache county Arizona. Keep them from chewing up our beautiful countrysides. This project that we are fighting against wants to install 10 miles of wind turbines (112+ units 654 foot high) and a massive solar field along Highway 60 coming into Springerville. THOUSANDS OF ACRES!!!! & that’s a right on the back of Greens Peak. Could be seen from every sacred mountain top in the area. If you are familiar with the area, you know the precious lava fields and grazing areas that I’m talking about. If you’re a tourist, outdoorsman, cattlerancher, private citizen and or environmentalist, you should be fighting hard to keep this project out of your backyard! Let's get this town charged up to fight Repsol Renewables Wind & Solar Projects on US 60 West of Springerville. Or you can say goodbye to Green's Peak and the other beauty along this 10 mile stretch consisting of 6400 acres of grazing and recreation areas. BTW, the turbines are 650+ feet tall and they want to put 110+ out there.

This may not have to be our future… as long as we fight! Come sign a petition to help us stop this project from even getting off the ground. Our area is under attack. They are coming for the wind and solar and will destroy the environment at any cost…because there is NO END to their revenue stream. If you have ever taken the drive on US 60 between Show Low and Springerville AZ, you know…it’s breathtaking. Tell Lava Run Windfarm to shove their wind turbines and solar fields up their asses. No long term benefit to Apache County. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN! Join STOP LAVA RUN! On FB, sign a petition, get involved and do some research. If we let them get one foot in the door, this will be our view, forever. If you haven’t signed a petition for this cause, come see me Cattletown Classic Arcade and join our resistance.
