Attention!
Greasy pizza boxes are now recyclable if they are free of pizza and the liner has been removed. With new technology, grease no longer hinders the final quality of the recycled paper product. Franklin County residents can put their pizza boxes in their home’s curbside recycling cart, or bring them to a Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio - SWACO drop-off recycling location, including the Recycling Convenience Center.

SWACO has partnered with over 25 local pizza shops in Columbus, including our own Pizza Partner - Flyers Pizza & Subs to help educate and encourage residents to recycle their empty pizza boxes. This campaign kicks off this Sunday as restaurants prepare to make thousands of pies for the Super Bowl 🏈

The Awesome Gallery, in partnership with The Awesome Company, a local screen-printing company based in Grove City, Ohio that employs autistic adults, welcomes Cleveland-based artist Lathan Aaron Barksdale and Columbus artist Tim Blackwell to the gallery space this February for the collab show – Monster Mash. An opening reception is set for Saturday, February 8, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“I am such a huge fan of Tim and Lathan’s artwork. Both gifted autistic artists with wild imaginations,” said The Awesome Company and The Awesome Gallery Founder Jacquie Mahan. “I knew Tim and Lathan would have fun showing their artwork together because they both deeply care about the characters and monsters they create.”

Lathan Barksdale, a teenager from Shaker Heights, is known for his boundless creativity and unique perspective. He is the creator of The Popstarians, a vibrant collection of cartoons that celebrates diversity and the community around him. His characters come from all walks of life, and he draws inspiration from the everyday world around him. He transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary art.

This will be Tim Blackwell’s second gallery show in Columbus. He’s thrilled to showcase a new series of colorful drawings he’s made by hand. The painting pens he is using are a new direction for Tim and show how much he is growing as an artist and person. Various animals, objects, mythology, favorite TV shows, and video games inspire his artwork. His artwork allows him to export the exciting visions in his head onto paper. His artwork is how he communicates who he is and how he feels with people.

“Both artists use bold and expressive colors,” muses Mahan. “The most exciting thing for me is how their artwork exudes playfulness and joy that I think we all need more of in our daily lives. We need to capture joy and smile at the magic more."

Beginning February 15, join Grove City Parks and Recreation every other Saturday for a selection of local winter produce, coffees, salsas, jams, baked goods and more. Plus, each market will feature free kids’ crafts and activities themed around the season!

Check out these regular events to add to your calendar! The Awesome Company is hosting Morning Creatives & Movie Nights 🎥🎨

The Awesome Gallery, in partnership with The Awesome Company, a local screen-printing company based in Grove City, Ohio that employs autistic adults, is set to launch two special monthly events.

The Morning Creatives will take place in The Awesome Gallery main space on last Sunday of every month from 10 a.m. - noon. It's open to autistic and neurodivergent adults who enjoy crafts and making things and want a safe and understanding space. Free coffee and art supplies will be provided to all attendees. The
first one is scheduled for Sunday, January 26.

A monthly movie night is also in the planning stages. It’s another way to provide a safe, adult activity for those who are looking to connect with others but in a more controlled space that accommodates those who may have unique sensitivities or needs. It will take place every second Wednesday with the first one scheduled for February 12.

Set to debut in March 2025 at 1657 Stringtown Rd., this marks Logan’s first location in Grove City and its third in Ohio, underscoring its commitment to expanding in the region. Guests can expect Logan’s signature flavors and authentic Southern hospitality, all served in the warm, inviting atmosphere that has made the brand a local favorite.

In preparation for the opening, Logan’s Roadhouse is now hiring for more than 50 positions, including both front-of-house and kitchen roles.
