Did you know the public beach is accessible? In 2018, Gulf Shores installed its first Access Mat at Gulf Place Public Beach in an effort to make the beach more accessible for beach goers of all ability, elderly people, wheelchair users and parents with strollers. This mat is located on the west end of Gulf Place by the Beach Safety Office and public restrooms. A second mat was installed later in 2018 at the east end of Gulf Place near the Pink Pony.
In addition to the two Access Mats, the Beach Safety Office, located at Gulf Place Public Beach, has a beach wheelchair for the public to use on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Beach Safety officers and lifeguards are happy to assist anyone needing help accessing the beachfront.
