Here is the info on the recommended opening of Gulf Shores Beaches.

May 1: All beaches reopen for limited recreational use only. Walking, running, swimming, surfing, fishing or other similar activity is permitted as long as social distancing guidelines are followed. Congregating on the beach and the use of chairs, tents and/or umbrellas is prohibited.

May 15: All beaches reopen for normal activities subject to compliance with social distancing guidelines as set by the State Health Officer.

How to Book Direct with an owner and save Hundreds of $. Of course the best way is to go to GSBeachCondos.com (for Gulf Shores, Al)
3 years ago the world of vacation rentals changed considerably.
Before then, owners bought advertising from an online company like VRBO/Homeaway , The owners paid for that advertising but there was no charge to the vacation renter. Now there is anywhere from 10% to 30% charge to the renter. That’s when a new industry arose, BOOK DIRECT and Save. As owners we don’t want you to pay additional fees and we are just sick that this takeover from sites like Vrbo, Flipkey/Tripadvisor, Book Direct and Airbnb is happening. To control this process the sites have also made it difficult for the potential renters and vacation owners to communicate, another issue that concerns owners.
When you Book Direct, you eliminate any of fees or contact issues. The problem is that there is really no national place to search for vacation rentals where there are little or no fees.
Our Properties are in Gulf Shores and there is a decent site to serve that area ECBYO.com. As a renter you always want to go direct to the owner. You want to find a site like ours. GSBeachCondos.com
There are some national sites but none has proved anywhere near the dominance that a VRBO achieved. One of those is Tripz.com
If you are searching for a vacation rental and want to book directly with owner, try this.
1. Find a rental that you like on VRBO or one of the other Fee based online travel agencies. Do not under any circumstances contact the owner through that site. If you do they are obligated to send the rental through that site where you will be charged the fee.
2. Take the name or descriptive phrase and do an internet search in the specific area you want to vacation with some of those terms. In most cases you will find the owner or manager, remember the first names that come up are likely going to be the fee based sites like vrbo. You are looking for the owners site.
3. Once you get there before you book you should do a little research to make sure you are booking from a honest owner not someone trying to cheat you. Sometimes owners will Join the BBB and have an A+ rating like we do, and you can always do a search for complaints at BBB.org.
