👏So excited to see commercial flights coming to Gulf Shores starting May 2025!

Today Allegiant Airlines announced it will begin offering the first-ever commercial air service from Gulf Shores International Airport. The airline will launch six new nonstop routes from Gulf Shores International Airport starting in May 2025, connecting the beach community to major cities across the country.

The new routes from Gulf Shores include:
➡️ Great Smoky Mountains National Park/Knoxville, Tennessee via McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) – beginning May 21, 2025
➡️ Cincinnati, Ohio via Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) – beginning May 22, 2025
➡️ Houston, Texas via William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) – beginning May 22, 2025
➡️ Bentonville/Fayetteville, Arkansas via Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) – beginning May 22, 2025
➡️ Belleville, Illinois via MidAmerica St. Louis Airport (BLV) – beginning May 23, 2025
➡️ Kansas City, Missouri via Kansas City International Airport (MCI) – beginning May 24, 2025

The addition of Gulf Shores International Airport to Allegiant’s expansive network is driven by robust leisure demand and Allegiant’s commitment to providing ultra-low-cost airfare to underserved communities with limited or no air service. A core aspect of Allegiant’s business model is to provide service during peak travel times with strong leisure demand, such as holidays, summer, weekends and school breaks.

🌕 Beautiful Gulf Shores moon shot from last night🤩

🦫 🌕 What a shot of last night’s “Beaver Moon” over the Gulf Shores water tower last night! After a string of “Supermoons” the last three months, last night’s marked the last one we’ll see until late in 2025.

According to NASA, the term Beaver Moon has origins in a variety of traditions and folklore in Native American and European culture. This could be partly because November is when beavers prepare for the winter by fortifying dams and stocking their food supply. November was also the season to trap beavers for their thick, winter-ready pelts to use for warmer clothing.

Even though last night was the moon’s peak fullness, tonight’s is sure to show off as well… so look up!

The 2024 NAS Pensacola Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow presented by Kia AutoSport of Pensacola is Nov. 1 and 2!!! The Main Gate at the south end of Navy Blvd. and the West Gate at the south end of Blue Angel Pkwy. will both open to Air Show attendees at 8 a.m.

🚀 Early Morning SpaceX Splashdown Just off of the Coast...

In the early morning hours of October 25th, the SpaceX Crew-8 mission will return to Earth, with a splashdown planned just off the coast of Pensacola, Florida, at approximately 2:23am CDT.

If you’re near the Alabama/Florida line, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the capsule just before it splashes down in the gulf. (See the map below.)
