My daughter works at the Tampa Zoo...one of the largest Manatee Hospitals in the country. And she asked me to share this so my friends that live near Mandeville will be on the lookout and let the authorities know. Cold snap coming and this manatee will likely not be in a good situation if the Audubon does not find it in time. Thanks.

Pending any last minute charters getting scheduled I sailed my last charter of 2024 yesterday with Veronika & her sister Arabella from Biloxi. They have sailed with me a couple of times before in their quest to learn more about sailing and operating a sailboat as their goal is to get a sailboat of their own down here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A bit chilly with temps in the low 60's (probably upper 50's out on the water) and a nice breeze of 12 - 15 knots. But really blue skies and a nice day. Best of luck to the sisters as they continue their journey towards becoming sailboat owners!

Mary Sue & Jay attended the "Boogie Nights" gala at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center and bid on and won a gift certificate for a sailing charter that I had donated to the event. So today was the day. She invited their friends Holly & Richard to join them and prepared a lot of food. The weather looked pretty good when they showed up but rain clouds formed up out by the islands and moved our way pretty quick. So yes, we did get a breezy drizzle for about 45 minutes but no, it didn't really detract from our fun. We did have some good sailing, and we found a lot of dolphins. Always look at the fun side of life and do not let a little bit of clouds and rain bring you down.

Very nice 4-hour sunset charter yesterday with Susan & Steve from the St. Louis, MO area along with Garrett, Brenna and Madeline. The winds were very light so the sailing was pretty slow but very smooth and peaceful. Tried to get out to Cat Island but between the wind angle and the wind speed we just couldn't do it. So we headed East and found another one of those drones to check out. We had been sailing for about 2.5-hours and hadn't seen any dolphins...pretty unusual. That was when the wind finally died down below 3 knots so I took the sails down and we motored out the ship channel. Had a close pass by a big power catamaran and then we found the dolphins. Had several swimming right along side and in front of us...very fun. We ended the day with a really nice sunset. They took the opportunity to visit the Harbor Lights Festival when we got back to the slip.

Not sure what to say about the sailing conditions today other than OUTSTANDING!!! 6-hour charter today with Courtney, Adam, Jason, Rebecca, Jacob and Sonika who are neighbors from Longbeach. The trip was a birthday celebration for Adam. Right out of the harbor we had a group of 4 dolphins swim right next to us as soon as we had the sails up. And then we had perfect sailing conditions out to Cat Island. We got about as close as we could and then tacked back North. Found another sailboat so we tacked in behind him for a short race...we won. Then we sailed a bit East of Gulfport and found one of the drones they build and test here in Gulfport...pretty cool. Many more dolphins. And then we finished off the trip with a really nice sunset. Super nice family. Fantastic weather. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Adam!

My second trip yesterday was a Sunset Charter with Sherry & Louis. A bit more wind than earlier in the day so the sailing was pretty nice. And the mild temperatures made for a perfect Fall sailing day. Unfortunately we didn't see any dolphins until right at the very end when it was starting to get dark. But we did have a nice sunset and a very relaxing sailing trip overall.

Beautiful Fall day yesterday for some sailing charters. First up was Sonja & James. Sonja is from Diamondhead and James lives in Washington (the state) but is from the Coast. They have been friends since their school days. We had pretty light winds so the sailing was a little slow but very smooth. We were able to find few dolphins which was nice but I think sailing close to the drone being tested out on the Sound was even better. Very relaxing...very peaceful day out on the Mississippi Sound.

And I finished off a great day of sailing yesterday with a sunset charter for Pamela & Jammie who live up near Laurel, MS. They have an RV and wanted to see about sailing. Great breezes and some nice sailing were the order of the day. We found one of the Ocean Aero ocean-going drones out on the water so we worked our way over towards it...but it did turn away before got too close. Unfortunately we did not find any dolphins on this trip which is a bit unusual. However, the sunset made up for the dolphin no-show. Very relaxing!

Ally from Diamondhead called me a few weeks ago to set up a sailing charter for her family. She was joined by Lucas as well as with Vickie & Gerald and her sisters Nicole & Angele. The event was a surprise 89th birthday party for her dad Gerald. He was told they were going to the beach for a picnic. Gerald use to operate a shrimp boat and really enjoys being out on the water. He was very surprised and very happy. Plus Ally brought along a lot of great food including Muffaletta Sliders from Rouse's! We found a lot of dolphins which made everyone very happy. What a great way to celebrate a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Gerald!!!

Three charter day yesterday. First up was Phyllis and her sisters Pauline, Stephanie and Mandy along with her brothers Stacy and Dale. They all live in Louisiana, and they like to take trips together. So during their visit to the Mississippi Gulf Coast they decided to give sailing a go. We had a beautiful day with some nice sailing breeze which made for some fast sailing. Found a few dolphins but were hoping for more. But mostly it was about some nice family time and relaxing out on the water.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Rachelle & Trea from Long Beach. And a great way to spend an anniversary is a lovely sunset charter. We had a bunch of dolphins around us pretty much the entire time we were sailing. And then we saw one of the drone vessels out on the water so we headed over to get a closer look. We finished off the evening with a really nice sunset. They are already talking about coming back and bringing their boys next time. I am looking forward to it.

Marilyn & Anthony are from Lafayette, LA and used to own a sailboat that they sailed on Vermillion Bay. But it has been a few years so they wanted to give it another try while they are spending a few days relaxing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. And it was a really nice day to be out on the water. We found a lot of dolphins which is always fun but the really big surprise was the tremendous number of pelicans. Easily over 200 pelicans sitting together out on the water. Thoroughly enjoyed sailing with these two really nice folks.

Victoria set up a "special event" charter a few months ago. Blaire had no idea what was happening. But let's just say she was very excited when she turned around from doing the "Titanic pose" to find Victoria down on one knee with a beautiful ring. Very cool! Plus she had hired Judith to come along to take pictures but we had fooled Blaire into thinking that she was there as part of my crew to shoot pictures for a new website. Lots of dolphins came over to share their congratulations with the happy couple. And we had a nice sunset as well. CONGRATULATIONS to Victoria & Blaire!!

Wayne has done some small boat sailing on Lake Ponchartrain when he used to live in NOLA. But now he and his wife Kathy, along with his sister Aurita and her husband Wayne and his other sister Ruth and her husband Neal all live in Biloxi. And he wanted to take them out sailing and to enjoy this fantastic Fall weather. Very smooth and peaceful out on the water. We found dozens of dolpins and hundreds of pelicans...very cool. Plus we sailed up close to one of the ocean drones that are built and tested in Gulfport. Great way to spend an afternoon!

Spent a few days in Atlanta visiting the grandkids...youngest just started walking. But got back yesterday and back out on the water doing charters today. Dustin, from Carriere, MS has messed up and caught the sailing disease and is also addicted to sailing youtube videos. He wants to get a boat and learn how to sail. So today he brought out Julie, Dave and Remmy...also from Carriere and gave everyone the opportunity to see what it is all about. Beautiful day but pretty light winds so the sailing was pretty slow. Everyone had a great time. Very relaxing. Unfortunately we didn't find any dolphins...but lots of pelicans and we sailed over next to the big yellow Dole banana ship. Might be seeing Dustin again.

Normally you talk about how many years you have known somebody. But in Greg's case I have known him for 3 boats...Frolic, then Blue Moon and now Analiesia (or 12 years). And Regina took ASA 101 from me several years ago. And they are being visited by Barbara from Virginia and they wanted to show her some fun sailing. But.... Analiesia is still in the boat yard getting some work done so they sailed with me this evening. More fantastic weather and great winds. Lots of dolphins plus a really nice sunset. And the moon is probably about 66% and very bright. Love sailing with my sailing friends!
