After much discussion and deliberation I’m sorry to say we have decided to cease offering charters and close La Dolce Vita Cruises. We have totally enjoyed the past 6 years and will miss the incredible passengers, amazing sunsets, the beautiful dolphin and documenting on Facebook. I will keep the FB Page and may post about our new adventures.
We have decided to retire again. We are truly blessed to have assisted with creating memories with all of you and your families and friends. We appreciate your patronage and now we plan to create our own personal memories. We recently took a trip and the photos I included are from that trip. That’s how we want you to remember us!

We had our last cruise, at least for this year, yesterday with some great friends and former coworkers in Murfreesboro TN. Steve and Martha came down to the Coast to get away and Laura, who now lives in Columbia MS joined them. It was so much fun to spend time with them! Weather and sunset was amazing! We had some dolphin join us. But, best of all, being with wonderful friends!! We will be out of service starting today.

What a wonderful cruise to Ship Island and out into the Gulf this evening with Brian, Amanda, Abigail and Ender from Howell MI. They are visiting the Coast to celebrate Amanda’s Grandmother’s 90 Birthday with tons of family members. Water was amazingly calm, temperature was perfect and we saw lots of dolphin. Got some pics of the dolphin jumping just below the kids. Abigail and Ender drove the boat. Ender had lots of energy and explored all over the boat while Abigail sat up top with Capt Jim learning all about navigation. We saw the sunset to the west and the almost full moon to the east. They totally enjoyed the experience!

We had an outstanding cruise to Ship Island and out into the Gulf this evening with Andrew and Lisa from Jackson MS. They are celebrating their 12th Anniversary with a trip to the Coast. Dolphin swam with us and the sunset and cloud formations were amazing! They said the cruise was wonderful and so relaxing! Happy Anniversary Andrew and Lisa!

It was a beautiful evening as we cruised to Ship Island with Les and Cheryl from Fairview Park OH. We saw lots of dolphin swimming and bobbing but couldn’t get them to swim with us. We watched them jumping in the wake in front of the Chiquita Banana container ship as we passed it and I’m thinking they were just worn out. But the sunset and weather were gorgeous. They said they totally enjoyed their evening on the water and it ended their vacation on a very high note!

We had a dolphin-filled cruise to Ship Island this afternoon with Rodney, Nikki, London and Emmett from Chicago. Water was as calm as it gets and the breeze was wonderful. We had lots of dolphin swim with us and I got some pics of them jumping right under London. Emmett was in constant search of pirate ships. They brought some snacks and drinks and London and Emmett drove the boat. They said the experience was amazing!

We had a beautiful cruise to Ship Island this evening with repeat passenger, Patsy, along with Kizzy and Berley from Baton Rouge and Eddie and Tony from New Orleans. The weather was perfect. At the Island they released balloons in memory of Patsy’s grandson, Orlando, who she tragically lost 2 yrs ago. Today would have been his 21st Birthday. RIP Orlando. We had dolphin join us under the bow but none of the passengers were brave enough to come to the bow pulpit to see them. We saw some huge jellyfish and tons of pelicans. Capt Jim of North Star Sailing caught a pic of us as we headed out of the harbor. The sun was brilliant while setting and produced some nice colors. Patsy said whatever weighs on your heart, the cruises bring you peace. They all really enjoyed their evening on the water and Patsy said she will be back!

We had a solemn but beautiful cruise out the channel between Cat and Ship Islands this evening with Azalia and Zion from Dallas TX. Azalia’s husband and Zion’s stepfather, David, passed away Aug 5, 2022 and they knew he wanted his final resting place to be on the MS Gulf Coast. They loved visiting the Coast and have made many trips here. They played music he loved as they deposited his ashes into the Gulf waters. They had several tributes to him and said the setting was perfect. RIP David.
We did have some dolphin join us in the wake and under the bow on the way out. The weather was amazing and the sunset was very nice. Azalia said David was smiling down on them.

We had a 10 yr Anniversary cruise to Ship Island yesterday evening with Mark and Michele from Brandon MS. The weather was perfect, water was calm and we finally found the dolphin toward the east end of the island. The seagulls entertained us diving for bait fish. Michele caught a couple of great pics of some with a fish in their mouth and sent them and a few other pics to me. Mark and Michele asked a lot of questions about the area and loved it when the dolphin swam with us. They said the experience was amazing! Happy Anniversary!!

We had a beautiful cruise to Cat Island this evening with Tim and Karen from White Plains NY. The water started out unbelievably calm like glass. We saw some dolphin but couldn’t get many to swim with us very long. However, the sunset and cloud formations made up for that. We had great conversation and they enjoyed some snacks and drinks. They said it was perfect!

We had a very nice Birthday cruise to Ship Island this evening with Richard, Teresa and Abby from Gulfport MS. Richard and Abby surprised Teresa with the cruise! The weather was wonderful, we saw the Chiquita Banana freighter leaving the harbor, some dolphin swam with us and the sunset was had some nice clouds. They really enjoyed their evening on the water. Happy Birthday Teresa!

We had a 20th Anniversary cruise to Ship Island this evening with Geoghegan and Lana from Hattiesburg MS. The weather was perfect, the clouds were awesome, there was a full moon, we saw an osprey fly from a ship day marker, the birds were catching bait fish like crazy and one dropped a ballyhoo on the bow and the dolphin were jumping all around us. They said it was the perfect way to start their Anniversary weekend! Happy Anniversary you two!!

We had a double Anniversary Labor Day cruise to Cat Island and back to cruise along the coastline this afternoon with passengers from Southaven MS. Angela and Dennis are celebrating 30 yrs and Jonathan and Shayla are celebrating 2 yrs. We were scheduled for 4 hrs but a storm started moving in so we cut it to 2.5 hrs. We had quite a dolphin show along the coastline! Pardon all the dolphin pics but they were having a blast in the wake! I grew up in Memphis so we talked a lot about that area and knew some people in common. They loved the experience and were so happy to spend time on the water and the dolphin show! Happy Anniversary to all of them!!

We had a Birthday cruise this evening to Ship Island with Aviers and Denise from LaPlace LA. Aviers arranged it for Denise’s Birthday and surprised her. She was OVERWHELMED to say the least! She couldn’t believe it. Denise grew up in Gulfport and has many memories here. Her Senior class trip was to Ship Island on the Capt Pete. Aviers brought a cake hidden in a cooler. They just loved the experience so much! We had tons of dolphin under the bow forever. I got pics of Aviers’ and Denise’s heads down low just above the dolphin jumping. Capt Jim of North Star Sailing took some pics of us as we passed. They were amazed by the experience! Happy Birthday Denise!

We cruised to Ship Island this evening with Angela and Gloria from Birmingham AL. They are visiting the Coast for a Girl’s mental health getaway week. The weather was beautiful and the dolphin swam with us forever!! The sunset was gorgeous as they enjoyed it on the bow. Captain Jim let each of them drive the yacht. We talked and laughed and they asked a lot of questions about the area. They just loved the dolphin jumping under their feet and I got some pics with the dolphin jumping right under their faces and splashing them. They said they cruise was amazing and the best way to end their week on the Coast!!

We had a celebration cruise to Ship Island this evening with Tommy, Melanie, Stu and Jocelyn from Poplarville MS and Russell and Tonia from Carriere MS. Melanie arranged the cruise to celebrate her Birthday, Russell has a Birthday soon and Stu just retired again. They all know the Coast area well and have many memories down here. Winds had picked up and water was a bit rough so we only saw dolphin swimming at a distance. But the sunset was quite amazing! They enjoyed some time at the upper helm and on the bow at the island but spent most of their time on the aft deck talking, laughing and enjoying food and drink. They had a great time and Melanie really enjoyed her Birthday celebration!!

We cruised to Ship Island this afternoon with Eddie and Kelly from Flowood MS. Kelly was all about the dolphin! (As her t-shirt shows) We had some join us a few times under the bow but couldn’t get them to play very long. We saw a huge pod feeding on our way out but they didn’t want to play. I got a video of that I will post separately. We did see some dolphin at a distance jumping straight up probably 6 ft completely out of the water. That was quite a show! Too bad they didn’t swim with us more but Eddie and Kelly loved the experience! They said they will be back!!

Our second cruise today was to Ship Island with Santrail, Akita, Sankeydra and Reginald from Stockbridge GA. They were celebrating Akita’s Birthday. The cruise was amazing! Weather was perfect, dolphin joined us and the sunset was very nice. Sankeydra stayed out on the bow pulpit with a huge smile most of the cruise. Reginald stayed at the upper helm talking with Capt Jim and driving the boat. They just couldn’t believe the dolphin swimming with us! They absolutely loved the experience and promised they will be back! Capt Jim of North Star Sailing caught some pics of us as we passed Kashmir.

After a few weeks off due to a mechanical issue and rain and storms everyday we were back out today with gorgeous weather. We had a wonderful 4 hr cruise to Cat Island, out into the Gulf and to Ship Island with Callie from Ocean Springs and Amy and Stephanie from Gulfport. They have been friends since college at USM and were celebrating Callie moving to the Coast and Stephanie’s Birthday. Stephanie said it was the best Birthday gift ever! It was quite a reunion! Weather was amazing and the dolphin showed up for us. We spotted a rainbow in the clouds. They enjoyed their time on the bow and talked and laughed the entire time. They said the experience was amazing and they will be back!

Weather was iffy all day but we had a great cruise to Ship Island this evening with Lance, Amber, Karah, Keegan and Kohlt from Bolivar MO. My cousin, Janet, recommended us to them. Thanks Janet! Keegan and Kohlt drove the boat. It took us awhile to find the dolphin but then they showed up big time under the bow and in the wake. You will see some pink bellies on them. That means they are flushed with excitement! They must have been happy because they were jumping high! All of our passengers really loved the dolphin action and the whole cruise!

We cruised almost to Ship Island this evening with Craig, Kathy, Thomas, Andrew, Lexi and little Hannah from Houston TX. The cruise was cut a bit short due to some storm clouds and some lightning and rain that developed. But that didn’t last very long. Capt Jim outran it for the most part but he got soaked up top. They kept referring to Gilligan’s Island for some reason. 🤣 We did see a few dolphin before the storm and Hannah drove the boat. They said they got “the full experience” and they enjoyed it!

What a wonderful cruise to Ship Island this evening with Danielle from Gulfport and Richie, Angela and Lydia from Quincy IL. The dolphin showed up several times, weather was perfect and the cloud formations were georgeous! A dolphin under the bow jumped, flipped and went back in upside down which is very unusual. Lydia photobombed a dolphin pic. Lots of conversation and laughter. It was truly a great evening on the water!! They said it was amazing!

We had an excellent cruise to Ship Island this evening with Brian, Demetria, BJ and Victoria from the Dallas TX area. Was supposed to be 4 hrs but storms delayed us to a 2.5hr. It was beautiful after the storm with calm water and a great breeze. We saw the Chiquita banana ship leaving port, dolphin showed up, the sunset was gorgeous and Captains Jim and Chris of North Star Sailing got some great pics of La Dolce Vita out on the water. Lots of great conversation and BJ and Victoria drove the boat. It was a fantastic cruise. They loved it!

We cruised to Ship Island this evening with Zane and Vanessa from Baton Rouge LA. They were celebrating Vanessa’s Birthday. The weather started out nice but with some ominous clouds that were actually pretty. When we got to the island the winds picked up and a big cloud got darker. We didn’t have much luck with seeing dolphin but we did see some at a distance. The sunset was blocked a bit by the clouds but we got a little color. We passed Chris of North Star Sailing who they sailed with in March and he got some pics of us as we passed. They really enjoyed being out on the water and enjoyed the experience! Happy Birthday Vanessa!

We cruised to Ship Island this afternoon with Ron, Ashley, Johnny, Logan, Emily and Birthday Girl Isabella from Ocean Springs MS. Water was calm, breeze was wonderful and the dolphin showed up for us! One of the dolphin was wearing a birthday hat just like Isabella’s! We passed Chris of North Star Sailing and he got some pics of us as we passed. They enjoyed riding on the bow pulpit and the dolphin and watching crabs and jellyfish swim by. They recently moved here from Kansas City and didn’t have dolphin there. They really enjoyed the cruise!

We had a wonderful cruise to Cat Island this evening with Ronnie, Carol, Pat and Laura from Covington LA. They have been to Ship Island and wanted to go to Cat Island. Ronnie and Carol saw our boat 3 years ago and have been dreaming about going out on a cruise with us. Carol said the experience was 10X what she expected! She said it was FABULOUS!! The weather was perfect and the sunset was beautiful. Carol and Laura posed into the sun on the bow pulpit. We had lots of great conversation and they are going to recommend to all their friends. They are already planning to come back!

We had a wonderful 4 hr cruise today to Ship Island and outside the Island into the Gulf with Marc, Kathi, Lisa and Adam from Mt. Olive NJ. The water was like glass when we headed out. The breeze was amazing. We saw dolphin, about 5 sea turtles, pelicans, seagulls and jellyfish. Lisa is studying marine biology so she was in Heaven. I got pics of dolphin jumping just below Kathi and Lisa. They did get in the water to cool off as we all watched for jellyfish. I got pics of a couple. Mississippi is their 46th state in an effort to visit all 50. They are heading to Gulf Shores AL which will make 47. It was a great day on the water!! They loved it!

We had a 4 hr 20th Wedding Anniversary cruise this evening to Cat and Ship Islands with Andrew and Tiffany from Columbia MO. The breeze was wonderful and the sunset was beautiful. It took forever to find dolphin that would swim with us but we finally did! Tiffany just loves being out on the water and she said she didn’t care if we saw dolphin. But she sure enjoyed them! Andrew’s hat blew off but we rescued it with the boat hook. Tiffany videoed the rescue. They said the cruise was amazing! Happy Anniversary Andrew and Tiffany!!
