Did you know Gunnison has a ski area?! 🎿🏔️Cranor Ski Hill was purchased by the city of Gunnison + opened to the public under the condition it would always be operated as a ski area. 😃

Perfect for beginners, it has 4 runs, 1 Poma lift, + a lodge at the base.

2024 was a year to remember here in the Gunnison Valley!! Each season had its spectacular highlights!

From deep powder days in the winter to seamless Closing Day at the resort > Opening Day at Hartman Rocks in the spring, to the biggest 4th of July celebration ever this summer to some of the prettiest fall foliage!!

Mountain Express (Crested Butte, CO), Crested Butte’s FREE shuttle service between downtown Crested Butte + Mt Crested Butte will be extending their hours for New Year’s Eve!

🚌 The Town Shuttle will run every 15 minutes with its last departure from the Old Town Hall bus stop in Crested Butte to Mt. Crested Butte at 2:10 a.m.

‼️Please be aware that the last bus from Old Town Hall can be extremely full. We suggest you grab the 1:40 a.m. or the 1:55 a.m. from Old Town Hall in order to be guaranteed a seat. The last scheduled run from Mt. Crested Butte to Crested Butte is at 2:15 a.m.

🚍The Crystal/Castle and Three Seasons condo routes will turn into a Condo Express bus at 11:00pm, with its last departure from Mountaineer Square at 2:15am.

🚐 FirstTracks OnDemand On Mountain service will be running until 2:15 am. For service coverage, please check out their website + download the app.

🌙 FirstTracks Late Night Service will also be available from 10pm-2:30am, serving the North Gunnison Valley. To book a ride, download the app.

The news we’ve all been waiting for! 🟢
BOTH bridges (Middle + Lake Fork) on HWY 50 are NOW OPEN to two-way traffic with NO lane closures, NO nighttime closures, and NO pilot car operations - just you and the road!
🚙🚛🛻🚚🚐
Crews will be returning in the spring when the weather warms to paint both bridges, but this is expected to only require single lane closures.

🟢US 50 Middle Bridge in Gunnison is FULLY REOPEN to two-way travel!!

🟡Lake Fork Bridge will still be restricted to one lane of travel with both lanes expected to open in December.

RECAP:
The US 50 Middle Bridge closed to all traffic April 18 to protect public safety after several cracks were observed during a special inspection. The repair process involved installing 250 tons of steel plate with over 25,000 bolts to repair the structure in areas that posed an imminent risk to structural integrity. Each steel plate bolted beneath the bridge is about 23 feet long, 2 ½ feet wide and 2 ½ inches thick and weighs about 9,000 pounds. Crews worked from a temporary scaffolding suspended from the side of the bridge to install the steel plate repairs. Since October, crews have been working to remove the temporary work platform from beneath the bridge, and the work is completed.

“We appreciate the community’s patience and support throughout these past several months,” said CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew. “We know this bridge closure posed a very challenging situation for many people throughout southwest Colorado, and your resilience and understanding were crucial in helping us get to this point and we are pleased to have it open for business before winter shutdown.”
