I realized at an early age that my soul craved for more than just a "temporary fix" of "up north." I vowed at the age of 10 to live up north as soon as I was able. It took nearly 20 years to make the physical move to the north, but my heart has always been here. Every day since then I spend figuring out ways I can help others scratch that "up north itch," whether it is designing a piece of furnitu

re or taking them fishing. It is who I am. If you feel the calling northward as I did, I would be honored to be your guide in any way that I can. Good luck on your - Detour North.

Chris is back in action in Eau Claire, WI for the US Open chainsaw Event!! Today was day 1, with 7 hours to carve on the masterpiece. Here is a quick look at his piece!

We're on day 4! Last few hours.... Chris started this morning with a base coated piece... now the paint!

Start of day 3 in beautiful Carson Park in Eau Claire WI! Today is another full day of carving and then Sunday is only a partial day to do finishing!

More detailing will be today's focus with getting it base coated by the end of the day so tomorrow.... that's where Chris blows everyone away with the finishing! This is gonna be a very cool piece!

Start of day 2 came early today to make up for a time delay yesterday. Chris cranked hard on his piece to get it down to this in a short day! Most of today will be shaving it down to start detailing.

Detour North "Tuesdays Tip":

The best way to add color in your home or cabin is blankets and pillows! Who says you have to have all accesories be the same style? We mix colors, patterns, and textures! Some of our favorite items are Pendleton blankets! They add warmth and lots of color. Plus, Pendleton blankets are an item to pass on for generations! Stop in or call us!

Here is yesterdays progress on one of Chris' pieces at the Minnesota Chainsaw Art Experience in Northfield, MN! This piece is a smaller version of his US Open piece back in August (If your new here, go check it out on our page).

This event showcases 4 carvers, (each with a distinct style of carving) running from this past thursday and ending on Sunday with an auction held at 1pm. If you are in the area and looking for something to do, go check out this amazing art form at the Armory Square, downtown Northfield!
