Yet another victim to the overuse of the extremely dangerous concoction of anticoagulant ingredients (rodenticides) used to mis manage nuisance rodents. It’s not safe. It can not be streamlined to affect just the targeted animal. It’s wreaking havoc on the environment and the food chain. It’s half life affects our soil, our earthworms, our water, our fish, as well as the various species of non targeted victims which includes our domesticated pets, our wildlife, and even small human children who are exposed. This stuff is poison! And there is no such thing as a safe poison! Write your legislators as well as your Senators to let them know that you are outraged that this onslaught has been disregarded by lawmakers for the past three years despite the scientific data that has been provided. The evidence continues to pile up and highlights the devastation. 2025 is the year we must see a Bill to ban the most potent classification of rodenticides, SGARS, Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides, from being sold and used in our State of CT. In 2025, the Bill must actually make it over the finish line and our representatives must stand up and support it. Safe alternatives exist, work, and are affordable. Natural Fertility Control is the obvious tool to replace poisons, and since it must be continuously applied, pest management providers have no excuse claiming they will suffer financially from this one category of poisons being taken away if they simply switch from poisons to Fertility Control products. Shame on anyone who continues to knowingly apply this destructive method to our planet and anyone who protects this profit making business allowing them to do so for money. All while assuring consumers that it’s safe and won’t affect anything but the target. We know better. Enough is enough. Stop with the lies… these birds I hold as they drown in their own blood would appreciate your honesty.
RIP to this beautiful first year Red Tailed Hawk who died tragically and painfully simply because he consumed his natural prey. A rodent containing SGARS. Our wildlife doesn’t stand a chance. Our wildlife deserves better.
