Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Council TTRR Continuing Education Award: Elizabeth Vito, a senior at Marywood University and Nathan Presutti, a junior at Slippery Rock University. Criteria for selection includes having been a PCMEA member for at least one year, carrying a GPA of 3.5 or higher as well as having participated in at least one PMEA-sponsored professional development program.

Congratulations also to Ava Formaini, who is the first recipient of the Music for Lifelong Learning Award. This award is presented to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student who is majoring in science, technology, engineering or math.

The US Department of Education recently sent a letter to Chief State School Officers across the country to remind them of ways they can use federal funds for arts education.

The letter specifically calls out Title I as a place where arts education funding can be used. This is a major clarification that you are invited to share with school administrators.
