Our July/August issue is out!
☀️ Our cover story, by Jennifer Boresz Engelking and Vince Guerrieri, takes a look back in time at Lost Lake Erie, including rumrunners, shipwrecks, the largest summer resort in the world and a rollercoaster so fierce that it left bruises.
☀️ We also check in with Heather Moore, who bought a Cleveland lighthouse last fall, about the inspiration behind her big purchase and her Heather B. Moore jewelry line.
☀️ Sign up to receive these stories and more in your inbox on Thursdays via our free email newsletter right here: www.lakeerieliving.com/newsletter

The Friends of the Lake Erie Seaway Trail Center are so excited to continue our project to replace our sunny area of lawn with a garden to support pollinators and wildlife!
We are entering phase 2 of this effort with the continued guidance and expertise of Master Gardener and Friend Paula Malesa with support from Frontier BIG Picture Academy students and the Town of Hamburg. Also special thanks to Clark for returning again this year to help keep our beautiful garden watered!
Why is it good to replace your lawn with a Native Garden?
Lawns require mowing, feeding with fertilizer, treating for insects and funguses, watering during droughts, aerating, over-seeding and more. By replacing with a pollinator garden, it provides nectar and pollen for bees, food for butterflies, native birds, and insects, and shelter for wildlife.
CHECK OUT these photos from last year's Phase 1 and of Paula's home pollinator native garden.....SPECTACULAR!!

April showers bring …marine debris.
With rains and melting snow and ice, trash that has found its way to our streets, storm drains, and shorelines can be flushed out into our ocean, Great Lakes, and waterways. In some areas, trash may have been trapped within the snow for months before being swept away with melting runoff.
So what can we do about it? We can prevent debris from traveling with runoff and entering into our waterways! Learn more about how to get involved and help April showers bring more May flowers, instead of marine debris:
