It is starting to feel like winter here in Maine! Put on your snowshoes and head to Penobscot River Trails! The Maine Highlands

Our Seboeis Riverside Trail is currently open for the season for snowshoeing and hiking! Our trail system along the Seboeis River has received nearly 6-8” of fresh snow!

PRT remains closed for XC skiing and snowshoeing until we receive further snowfall. At this time, our trail system has approximately 2” of snow.

We are looking ahead to an incoming storm of ~4” of snow, which would help us out immensely!

We will actively share on our social media when our trail system reopens for all recreational activities. Keep up the snow dances! ❄️

Today I met Gloria Pilczak. She was on her way to visit her 96 year old mother in . Smokey sparked some stories today. Gloria was proud to share that her father, Luther Snell, was a forest ranger back in the day in Northern Maine and her mother, Phyllis Snell was the dispatcher. Like our forest rangers heading to California this week… her father also did the same many years ago to fight fires. Thank you both for your service! Maine Forest Rangers

This image is a powerful reminder of the brutal conditions fishermen face to bring fresh seafood to shore—especially in the dead of winter. When boats return looking like floating ice sculptures, it’s no wonder that seafood prices go up or that availability becomes unpredictable.
