Our first group of the year successfully airborne and on their way to Zim and Botswana tonight for a fabulous customized birding safari! Not without some serious challenges…. 3 clients dropping out because of fear of covid (fortunately they had CFAR insurance!), flights canceled with threat of winter weather, PCR test results not back in time for first flight, United airlines check in agent in RDU wanting to deny boarding because of incorrect reading of ticket, lack of knowledge of international arrival protocol, misreading airline ticket and basic lack of common sense…. Fortunately the supervisor stepped in and did seem to know the on the ground situation (!) and clients driving to other airports to make sure they get to their final destination! We know that when they arrive and are greeted off the plane, treated like gold, experience the warm hospitality and thrill of the wild open spaces of Africa, all will be forgotten and they will have the time of their lives! Meanwhile here in NC the threatened winter weather has arrived (very gently and quietly) and it’s snowing! Snow all you want …. Our peeps are gone and I’m going to be snug in my bed tomorrow 😄
