Would you like to participate in a movement to empower citizens to give back to your community by serving on Boards and Commissions in your city and to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in Hampton Roads? Join the United Way of South Hampton Roads Project Inclusion Leadership Development Class of 2023 with the "Empowering Citizens Forum" scheduled for May 16, 2023, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Norfolk State University Brown Hall. This event is designed to help you connect with like-minded individuals who share your commitment to serve on Boards & Commissions that govern which streets will be paved, which neighborhoods will parks be built, where businesses will be opened, and more decisions that impact our everyday lives.
The objective of this forum is to learn from subject matter experts such as Angela Reddix, CEO/Founder of ARDX, Dr. Adale Martin, Chair, Norfolk City Public School Board, Leonard Remias, City of Norfolk Military Affairs Liaison, Jimmy Gray, City of Hampton Vice Mayor, and Ed Hopper, President of Altor Processing Systems. You will gain valuable insights, skills, and knowledge regarding the value of service and using the appropriate strategies to enhance board & commission appointments. You will create a culture of respect, trust, and belonging in your community and the opportunity to network with experts, leaders, and peers from different backgrounds and perspectives during the pre-forum reception. Whether you're just starting or have experience in board service, this forum is for you!
