Adults need vaccines, too. We all need protection from the serious, and sometimes deadly, diseases that can be prevented by vaccines. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or other health care professional which vaccines are recommended for you.

It is never safe to look directly at the sun. Even during an eclipse, if just a thin sliver of the sun’s disk is visible, enough light is produced to damage individual retinal cells. It takes a few seconds for this to happen, but afterwards you will see a spot as big as the surface of sun you looked at. Depending on how long you gazed at the sun and how badly the retinal cells were damaged, this spot will either fade away in time or remain permanent. You should never assume that you can look away quickly enough to avoid eye damage because every person is different in terms of their retinal sensitivity, and you do not want to risk being the one who damages their eyes just to try to look at the sun. Make sure to wear eclipse viewing glasses. For more information visit: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/faq

Calhoun County Office of Emergency Management

I cannot express to each of you the value of being prepared in an emergency situation. First responder's are a door way to success for our community. In a medical situation be prepared. Have a list ready for your responders of medications, allergies, and medical history. While the hospital may have it on file, it does not help us give you the best care possible. So please take the time to fill out the attached and put it some place you responder can find it. It could just save your life!
