PA State Capitol Fountain Goes Pink | Each October, the PA Capitol Fountain in Harrisburg goes pink to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. According to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Pennsylvania in women between the ages of 25 and 54. When breast cancer is found at its earliest stage the five-year survival rate is 98.6%. Over 13,000 women in Pennsylvania are diagnosed each year. Three of four cases of breast cancer arise in women with no known risk factors. Breast cancer continues to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in the U.S., regardless of race or ethnicity. Registration closes soon for one of our favorite special events! The Big 26 Baseball Classic's Buddy Program invites differently-abled athletes with special needs ages 5 & up to join Big 26 players for an exciting weekend of baseball activities at FNB Field - home of the Harrisburg Senators - July 25-28.
Highlights include a Buddy Game (tee or soft toss with soft touch balls) with Big 26 players on the outfield grass, plus pre-game introductions as high school all-stars from Pennsylvania and Maryland meet for a 3-game series.
⚾ There is no fee for the Buddy Program.
⚾ Register by Tuesday, July 9 to guarantee a personalized event shirt.
⚾ Limited space remains. Register ASAP!
⚾ Buddies should be 5 years old by July 1.
⚾ Buddies are invited to participate each day, but full weekend availability is not a prerequisite for participation. In other words. We *DO* encourage everyone to be at the Buddy Game Thursday evening as it is unanimously everyone's favorite event!
⚾ The playing surface and stadium is wheelchair accessible.
⚾ While the program is open to any eligible participant in Pennsylvania or Maryland, we especially encourage athletes with special needs from Dauphin County, PA, Cumberland, Lebanon, Lancaster, Adams, and York due to the weekend's schedule.
The Big 26 Baseball Classic is operated annually by our Sports & Events team at Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority.
