The Seaport Association, a non-profit 501-c3 organization was started in 1978 by a group of volunteers that work tirelessly to maintain the historic maritime treasure of Connecticut, Sheffield Island Lighthouse, on the National Register of Historic Places. Due to COVID-19, we desperately need funds to offset the loss of income due to our inability to implement our key fundraisers making your donation more important than ever. With your donation we will continue to preserve and maintain Sheffield Island Lighthouse and to enlighten lives with the stories of our shared maritime cultural heritage, now and for generations to come.

Spice up your Monday with Luna and the Lost Souls from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLWMBoRXXfs
Angela Luna has been known as an innovative, soul-stirring vocalist for more than 25 years. In her early days, she fronted the indie rock darling Jamie Strange, receiving five consecutive “Best Vocalist” awards (Hartford Advocate Poll). Since then, Angela has traveled the world performing with such acts as The Evil Beetles, Jet Black Jane, Ramon & the Monster, Doug Wimbish, her acoustic duo the Angel & the Hustler, and hip-hop sensation Klockwise. Today, she has returned to her home state and her true roots to form Luna & the Lost Souls, an original group combining American roots music, world rhythms, and compelling storytelling.

Angela has long been an advocate for the humane treatment of all living creatures. She currently operates a 20-acre wildlife rescue farm in Norfolk with her children, most of which are furry or feathered. As a proponent for social justice through the creative arts, she also works with the Judy Dworin Performance Project, collaborating with the women of York Correctional Facility. This yearly residency culminates in a presentation attended by our state governor, other dignitaries, and the women’s families.

Here she appears on her farm singing with her daughter, Joanie Burzymowska, in a special performance of her original song, “Blue Green,” soon to be released on the album Champagne Apocalypse.

Did you know...In 2018 a 1600s Native American Fort was uncovered as part of a rail bridge replacement project in Norwalk, Connecticut? The find on a small sliver of land next to railroad tracks that carry Amtrak and Metro-North commuter trains is considered one of the most important discoveries in the Northeast for Native American history. Not only did experts recently find the remains of the 17th-century fort, but they also discovered some artifacts including arrow and spear tips that date back an estimated 3,000 years, indicating Native Americans were active at the site for generations. There were arrowheads chiseled from quartz and a musket ball smaller than a marble, proof of trade with the Dutch that had occurred at the site. There were the remnants of copper and brass kettles Native Americans had been recycled into beads, projectiles, and spoons and pottery fragments that may be keys to deciphering cultural ties between Norwalk Indians and other tribes.

The Mission of the in Norwalk... that offers cruises to from June - September and organizes the every September. A big thank you to this wonderful non-profit organization.

Part of our mission involves the protection of the waters of Long Island, which we regard as a precious natural resource that enriches our quality of life. As one of the largest estuaries in the northeast it is an important home to a multitude of marine life including fish and shellfish, hundreds of species of birds, and other mammals. The virus should force us to rethink an industry that was hurting local communities, wildlife and our world heritage — as well as disappointing tourists.
