Nothing makes us prouder than to be able to sail out to greet Mama. Hōkūleʻa revived the tradition of Polynesian voyaging canoes here in Hawaii. The canoe's voyages have inspired a revival of voyaging and canoe building throughout Polynesia. For us here at Hawaiian Ocean Adventures it all started for us when Nakoa, at 5 years old, spent weeks crawling around Hōkūleʻa as she was being built and getting ready for her first launch from Hakipu'u. There's so much history and growth that came from those early years with his father, Kawaipuna. Nakoa has passed the skills he has spent a lifetime learning onto our ohana crews. Our captains, Neil and Zach, spent months and months helping him build the sailing canoes we now share with our guests. The mana runs deep.

Our ʻanakala Joe Momoa is blowing the pū as our sailing canoe returns to land. In Hawai‘i for countless generations, the pū has announced the arrival of canoes, the entrance of ali‘i, and the beginning of protocols.

We had a fun team building day for our ohana crew and families at Wai Kai .

It would of been great if they had stuff to do for the kids under 4. There's nothing, not even a splashing pool for the Littles. They did say the little kids could play under the outdoor shower, we made do. I will say that part of it was disappointing.

The adventure park obstacle course was interesting and everyone had fun.

I would suggest if you are planning a day for your team, make sure YOU pre - plan the activities with them so theres no room for disappointing rule breaking😅

Also we ordered the build a burger for lunch, which was really good yet it only came with water. It never dawned on me that juices or drinks of some kind wasn't set out. It OK though as I just opened a tab at the bar so our team could order non alcoholic drinks.

This place for a company outing was fun and the cost was reasonably priced. The staff who were working during our time were amazing. Very helpful and eager. You could tell they love what they do and it showed.

Overall we had a fun time and we definitely recommend it for your next company outing.

A wonderful memory for us to share..When you're 93 years young and wanna go sail on a canoe but have trouble walking... no problem, we got you. One of our best and most memorable guests EVER. It was an HONOR to share our wa'a with him, and thanks to our non-profit foundation, we did it at no cost for him and his family. This man who has lived such an extraordinary life had us all captivated by his stories, and what a story teller!❤️ Our kupuna are such valuable treasures.

The shop is one of Nakoas' favorite places to be. All of our sailing canoes, paddles, steering blades and such are hand built by him. The best is when our Captains and ohana crews can come in the shop and help. The mana runs deep and we are blessed.

He typically doesn't build for anyone else but has been busy designing the sailing canoes and paddles for the new live action Moana movie starring the Rock. He heads back to Atlanta in a few weeks and is excited to see it all come to life.
