We would like to welcome Amee, along with her new horse, Lulu, to the barn and Amee back in our lesson program. Amee rode with Barb a couple years ago but took some time off. Now, after getting Lulu, she has jumped right back in to the lesson program and we are so happy. Keep an eye out, I'm sure you will see both Amee and Lulu in the show pen at some time. Congratulations on becoming a horse owner to the sweetest horse and "officially" becoming part of the barn family. Amee will be riding with both Debbie and Barb.

This picture makes me SO happy....well, it makes all of us here at the farm happy. July 2021 we were at a horse show and Lisa was experiencing HORRIBLE back pain. She was only able to get through her showmanship class(no idea how she did it considering her pain, but, she also won it under both judges). That weekend was the last weekend she did anything horse related and definitely no riding. Long story short, she had to have major back surgery with some set backs along the way. Lisa is now feeling so much better and I think we're going to have a hard time keeping her off a horse. For the first time in 7 months, Lisa rode last night. She rode good, ol, dependable Buttons who was perfect for her. I had happiness in my heart and tears in my eyes seeing Lisa back in the saddle.....its been a long time coming!! She will be back on her own horse, Stevie, in no time. We are so happy for you, Lisa, and welcome back to the saddle😍😊

We would like to welcome Shannon to our lesson program. Shannon's daughter, Bryn, has been riding with us for about 9 months and Shannon thought it was time she gave it a try :-) So, she joins Bryn every other week and the two of them have a blast. We love seeing this!! Shannon will ride with Nikki. Have fun, Shan, and enjoy the ride!!

Everyone knows that I am not a fan of snow.....I think its beautiful but anyone that has a farm knows that it just makes your work day twice as long, if not longer. But, I do enjoy watching the dogs/horses play in it and enjoy it. I was happy to capture Felix and Major during their synchronized rolling :-) Hope everyone enjoyed their snow day yesterday!!

It sure is pretty but I am NOT a fan.....

“Farm work doesn’t make you stronger. It doesn’t make you anything. It reveals you.
There’s gym strong and then there’s farm strong. They’re mutually exclusive. The toughest women you’ll ever meet spend their days on a farm.
There are more uses for twine than you can possibly imagine. You can tie up a hole in a slow feeder, fashion a tail strap for a horse’s blanket, mend a broken fence and use it as a belt.
“Well that certainly didn’t go as planned,” is one thing you’ll say quite a bit.
Control is a mere illusion. The thought that you have any, at any given time, is utterly false.
Sometimes sleep is a luxury. So are lunch and dinner. And brushing your hair.
If you’ve never felt your obliques contract, then you’ve never tried stopping an overly full wheelbarrow of horse manure from tipping over sideways. Trust me, you’ll find muscles that you never knew existed on the human skeleton to prevent this from happening.
When one of the animals is ill, you’ll go to heroic lengths to minimize their discomfort.
Their needs come first. In summer heat and coldest winter days. Clean water, clean bed, and plenty of feed. Before you have your first meal, they all eat.
When you lose one of them, even though you know that day is inevitable, you still feel sadness, angst and emotional pain from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. And it’s a heaviness that lingers even though you must regroup and press on.
You’ll cry a lot. But you’ll never live more fully. You’ll remain present no matter what because you must. There is no other option.
You’ll ask for so many miracles and hold out hope until the very last.
You will, at least once, face-plant in the manure pile. You’ll find yourself saying things like, “we have maybe twenty minutes of daylight left to git ‘er done” whilst gazing up at a nonspecific place in the sky.
You’ll become weirdly obsessive about the weather.
You’ll go out in public wearing filthy clothes and smelling of dirt, sweat and p**p. People will look at you sideways and krinkle their noses but you won’t care.
Your entire day can derail within ten seconds of the rising sun.
You can wash your coveralls. They won’t look any cleaner, but they will smell much nicer.
Farm work is difficult in its simplicity.
You’ll always notice just how beautiful sunrises and sunsets really are.
Should you ever have the opportunity to work on a farm, take the chance! You will never do anything more satisfying in your entire life.”

Had a fun weekend with an end of the summer sleepover for a few of the lesson kids. It was a bad weekend to plan because so many people were getting their last minute vacations in. But, it was still fun even though we missed a bunch of the others. The kids enjoyed helping with barn chores, yummy dinner, rolling down the hill, making their own sundaes, watching movies and playing with the horses....oh, and of course keeping Annie and Reba entertained 😁 We look forward to doing it again in the future.

Hope everyone survived the storms tonight. Thanks to Dave and Kelly's help, we got everyone back in before it got too bad. We've been without electric for over 5 hrs now. Hopefully it's on by morning or else we will be hauling some water for the horses. We packed up the dogs and are staying at Amee and Eric's for the night.....fortunately we are on different electric poles!!! Enjoy the few pics I did get :-)

I've been waiting a LONG time to make this post!! We would like to welcome Jamie to our lesson program. Jamie has been a long time customer and rode with me way, way back when(we are both old lol). She has her horse here and has never been able to work lessons out til now....YAY!! Not sure how happy Hollywood is about that but he'll get over it ;-) Jamie loves learning and being pushed to do new things. She will be riding with Barb and I think shes just as excited as Jamie!! So, welcome, Jamie, I know you'll enjoy EVERY lesson :-)

This past weekend not only was the farm a place to come and enjoy the horses, but it was also the place that hosted Dave's Ham Radio's Club field day. They had quite a few people come through and it was interesting to learn about it :-) It was a fun filled busy weekend and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.
