Great news!! Some early opening confirmations!

A big May Day Basket gift! May 1st everything will be open!

The County forest trails (dark 🟢 on map) will be opening May 1st instead of normal May 15th.

Chequamegon National Forest (lights🟢 on map) opening May 1st on schedule.

Flambeau Forest (🟠 on map) will be opening May 1st instead of normal May 15th.

Remember that roads and routes in and outside of forests are open now (just don't venture onto trails in these areas, know the difference, be sure to use your map legends). The Tuscobia ( #10) is open as well.

UTV/ATV trails are still open in Sawyer County. Reserve cabin and get some fantastic riding in yet. We have approximately 2-3 inches of snow right now. Ride from Cabin, food and gas available just down the trail from cabin.

Hello Riders!!

Just want to clarify as there are some misunderstandings but believe it to be from those that are not motorized sports enthusiasts and we want to make sure this is clarified for all of you and all of them to ease any concern. We are in fact 100% encouraging our ATV/UTVers to ride! As you know, many of our ATV trails are shared trails with snowmobiles. When grooming starts those county land shared trails close to UTV’s, and as you know we are certainly not grooming so we encourage our ATV/UTV’s enthusiasts to ride! The incorrect rumor is that ATV/UTV’s are being encourage to ride on all snowmobile trails, this is incorrect. We encourage you to ride on ATV/UTV trails, again many are shared trails and some are ATV/UTV only and some are snow only. The ATV/UTV trails are purple on the map. Ensure those are the trails you stay on. Also please know we do not have a temp restriction in Sawyer County. We do not encourage any lake riding at all as it is not safe. And we will have our normal annual spring closure later March/April and if anything out of the ordinary is announced we will announce it here right away.

Ok so maybe a bit of an exaggeration!! We are wishing for a white Christmas so please ask the big guy 🎅 for some snow! But as of right now it’s not there yet! SOOOO, while you are patiently waiting for the snowmobile conditions to happen don’t forget our ATV/UTV trails ARE open!!!!

OPEN: The county land trails do not close to 900lbs and over off road vehicles until grooming begins and that isn’t happening yet! So those are open. The Tuscobia is open to ATV/UTV traffic, as are all roads and routes!

CLOSED: The ATV/UTV trails in the Flambeau Forest closed until May and trail 21 (FR 203) in Spider Lake Township from Bayfield Co line to Moose Lake is closed.

But much of the county is waiting for you to ride! So if you had the sledding trip planned over the next week or so and still want to come play, hop on the side by sides or ATV’s and get out there!!
