Airports in the Tampa Bay area announce closures ahead of Hurricane Milton

Airport officials are monitoring Hurricane Milton as St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport and Tampa International Airport are set to close.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — As Hurricane Milton intensifies and moves closer to Florida's Gulf Coast, airports are beginning to announce closures.

Below is a running list of airport closures to be aware of in the Tampa Bay area.

St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE)

The St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport will close after the last flight on Tuesday.

The airport will remain closed Wednesday and Thursday. Officials said all Allegiant flights were canceled for Wednesday and Thursday and encouraged travelers to contact airlines directly for information about cancellations and when flights will resume.

Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is also still open and operational while officials continue to monitor the storm.
