Get to know our tours! 🍷

Meet "A Day In The Village":
A Day in the Village (Mendocino Village to be exact!) begins with a wine and cheese tasting in Anderson Valley at Pennyroyal Farm, a winery and dairy farm known for its sustainable practices and excellent wines and fare. Next, enjoy a drive through the Navarro Headlands past vineyards, through majestic redwoods, then alongside the vast Pacific Ocean. Arrive in Mendocino Village just in time for a delectable lunch at Café Beaujolais, followed by an afternoon exploring the village with its many shops, galleries, boutiques and local attractions like the Historic Ford House Museum. You can even take a walk along the headlands above the water or down on the beach at Big River. End the day at Trillium Cafe and Inn for dinner, then relax as our luxury car journeys back to Healdsburg under a star-filled sky.

Lovers of wine, we introduce the “sparkling” gem of the wine country, Anderson Valley! 🍾

Did you know that the Anderson Valley’s first sparkling wine—produced by Scharffenberger Cellars—was released in 1981. Handley Cellars (1983) and Navarro Vineyards (1988) soon followed with sparklers of their own. However, with the 1982 arrival of Roederer Estate—the California outpost of the Champagne Louis Roederer—and the 1988 release of Roederer Estate MV Brut Cuvée, the region’s reputation as a world-class producer of traditional method sparkling wines was sealed.

Schramsberg Winery is just one of the wineries we visit on our tours, but they have quite the illustrious history! (Photo Credit: Schramsberg)

Schramsberg's history dates back to the 19th century, when German immigrant Jacob Schram first made his home and started his winery on Diamond Mountain.

Over one hundred years later Jack and Jamie Davies would restore the Schramsberg estate in 1965. They set out to produce sparkling wine – specifically, “America’s most prestigious, select and admired sparkling wine; chosen for special guests, special gifts, pampering one’s self and expressing one’s taste in unique products.” Through the decades, this spirit of innovation earned Schramsberg and the Davies worldwide praise and recognition.

Schramsberg has also played a role in world history. The Blanc de Blancs was used for President Nixon’s 1972 “Toast to Peace” with China’s Premier Zhou Enlai. Schramsberg’s sparkling wines have been served at official State functions by every U.S. Presidential administration since.

Do you consider yourself an avid wine collector? 🍷

If so, maybe you have a Magnum or two in your collection. Did you know, however, that a Magnum isn't the biggest size wine bottle you can get? The biggest size wine bottle is called a "Nebuchadnezzar" which holds 15 liters of wine! That’s the same as 20 regular bottles in a single huge bottle.

Here's a little history on Roederer Estate, one of the wineries we visit on our Anderson Valley Wines tour!

After several years of exploring California’s diverse regions, Roederer founder Jean Claude Rouzaud, found that Anderson Valley was THE place to plant vineyards for sparkling wine. In 1982, just one year before Anderson Valley was officially recognized as an AVA, he purchased the 580-acre property that is Roederer Estate as we know it today.

Meet "Anderson Valley Pinots":
Anderson Valley Pinots begins with wine and cheese tasting at Anderson Valley’s Pennyroyal Farm, a winery and dairy farm known for its sustainable practices and excellent wines and fare. Next, you’ll take a leisurely stroll through an ancient redwood grove at Hendy Woods State Park (Mendocino Area Parks Association), then stop by a farm stand at The Apple Farm (Philo Apple Farm) for fresh apple juice and perhaps a jar of handmade jam or chutney. Continue to wine tasting at Toulouse Vineyards & Winery, one of the foremost small-scale family wineries in Anderson Valley. A visit to Handley Cellars is next, where you can taste pinot noir from one of the oldest family wineries in the valley. Or, if you’d prefer, sit back and enjoy the view through redwood forest out to the California Coast, where you can walk on the bluffs above the ocean at Point Navarro. As evening arrives, relax with a drink in the garden of The Boonville Hotel, followed by a seasonally inspired dinner. Finally, relax as our luxury car carries you back to Healdsburg in safety and comfort.
