CastleFaire 2025 is here!!!
Parking update: On-Site parking at Uhuburg is FULL. There are 4 spots reserved for handicapped parking.

Three Parking Options:
1. Cool River Tubing's Headwater's Outpost Located North of town. $10
Address: 112 Poplar Stump Road, Helen, GA

2. Helen Fun Factory Located between Uhuburg and Helen. $10
Address: 115 Escowee Dr, Helen, GA

3. Downtown Helen: Parking available (typically around $10)

Shuttle service is provided from:
- Parking lot at 112 Poplar Stump Road
- Fun Factory at 115 Escowee Drive

Shuttle service is provided between parking lots and Uhuburg grounds at 571 Ridge Rd.

Shuttle service is provided between the Meadow Village and Castle Courtyard.

Enjoy CastleFaire at both locations: Meadow Village off Ridge Rd and in the Castle Courtyard at the top of the hill.

Parking updates will be posted on Facebook & Facebook/Instagram stories during the festival. We recommend having one of your passengers check for the latest info as you approach Helen.

Basics
- Parking is mostly in off-site lots with shuttle service provided.
- Parking fees are not included with ticket purchase (typically up to $10).
- Shuttle service is included with tickets and is provided between parking lots and castle grounds and up to the castle entrance.

Four parking options
1. Uhuburg's on-site parking lot - 571 Ridge Rd, Helen, GA
Red & white banner flags mark Uhuburg's entrance.
Parking opens 45 minutes before festival opens each day.
Ticket check-in begins 30 minutes before festival opens each day.
Updates will be put on Facebook posts and Instagram/Facebook Stories when lot is full.
Please do not expect to park on site after the lot is full.
Check-in at the white tent at the Meadow Village entrance.
Enjoy the Meadow Village performances and vendors, then take a shuttle to the upper level to enjoy the courtyard performers, vendors, & Uhuburg's castle grounds.

For 2 & 3: Park, check in and get your wristband with CastleFaire staff & volunteers while you wait for pick-up. A shuttle will run continuously starting just before festival opening time to & from Uhuburg. Shuttle drop-off is at the Meadow Village on Uhuburg's lower level grounds. Go to the white tent to enter the Meadow Village and enjoy the performances and vendors, then take a shuttle to the upper level and enjoy the courtyard performers, vendors, & Uhuburg's castle grounds.

4. Downtown Helen
Park downtown & enjoy the walk to Fun Factory at 115 Escowee Dr to catch the CastleFaire shuttle.​

📸 Donny & Danial of Appalachian Sword Club, returning an eighth (or ninth?) time to Uhuburg and 2nd time to CastleFaire. Watch, learn, and try out swordsmanship for yourself next weekend with them!⁠

COSTUME WEAPON POLICY⁠
🔸 Only arms relevant to the period portrayed in costume are allowed. Such arms include but are not limited to swords, daggers, axes, bows and arrows, crossbows and replica fi****ms.⁠
⁠
🔸 All costume blades must be properly sheathed and peace tied with red twine, ribbon or zip ties at all times. Arrows must have tips removed (except padded LARP tips), tied together and tied inside the quiver.⁠
⁠
🔸 Crossbows must not be capable of launching any projectiles.⁠
⁠
🔸 Only period appropriate replica fi****ms allowed. Replica fi****ms must not be capable of launching projectiles and/or making loud or gunfire sounds.⁠

🔸 Foam weapons are okay to wield, but please no fighting (except in our foam sword fight ring!).⁠
⁠
🔸 All persons and weapons are subject to search and inspection. Any item found to be potentially harmful or unsafe will be removed and securely stored until departure.⁠

🔸 Concealed and open carry fi****ms are PROHIBITED on CastleFaire and Uhuburg grounds, except as required by law with regards to law enforcement personnel with properly presented credentials. CastleFaire is hosted on private property.

Met by Moonlight Events and Uhuburg are pleased to announce Katie Cosplays as a special guest for Realms of Winter, the winter fantasy ball of CastleFaire!

Katie George is an Atlanta cosplayer who entered the world of cosplay and dress-up in 2004. Thinking she wanted to costume professionally in the film industry, she has a BFA in Costume and Makeup Design from Auburn University, but after graduating, decided she preferred the consistency and benefits of corporate life. Her proudest achievement in cosplay was winning the chance to represent the United States in the international World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan, and being featured for one whole second on the Today Show as a Valkyrie Nesta cosplayer during their segment on Sarah J. Maas.

What to Wear Tips⁠
- Ren fairs have come to encompass a wide range of garb inspired from historic period clothing to medieval fantasy. Come as your favorite book character, a Viking, embrace your inner knight, don a corset, or be the Mother of Dragons!⁠ ⁠
- Shoes!Uhuburg's grounds are uneven and material varies from gravel, grass, bricks, cement and genuine red Georgia clay from the parking to check-in to the new Meadow Village to the castle courtyard. Choose shoes accordingly. Heels aren't great, nor are shoes that can't get a little dirty.⁠
- Costumes are not required.⁠
- CastleFaire is a family friendly event.⁠

❄️ WEATHER ❄️⁠
- Please be smart in planning your attire! No matter what you choose, dress for WINTER. Some of these photos here from last year make it look like it was not so cold, BUT IT WAS! It even rained one day (last picture!) 🥶⁠
- CastleFaire is mostly outdoors and we want you to enjoy your time here, so please plan accordingly. The Great Hall will be open with tables and chairs for you to have some inside time (and to see the belly dancers and reptiles!).⁠
- If cold weather isn't your thing, don't worry, there are many, many, many other ren fairs that happen in warmer months.⁠
⁠
Why is CastleFaire in the winter? Some reasons are:⁠
- This time of year is the off-season for Helen, GA, making it possible to use off-site parking lots, and shuttles and drivers who are all occupied during most of the other times of year.⁠ This is a great time to have a CastleFaire takeover of Helen!⁠
- There are many ren fairs that happen in the warm seasons. This is a chance to bring out your cloaks, capes and furs! This also means vendors and performers have pretty full schedules the rest of the year. We love that they are available to bring CastleFaire to life.

So, get those outfits together and grab some hand warmers!

Have you seen our Darcy? He's been gone too many days and we miss him. Not a day goes by that we don't call for him and hope he comes home. His brother and sister miss their playmate and the fur pile-ups at cat naptime are not the same without him.⁠
⁠
Physical Description: Darcy is a gray cat (looks like a russian blue) with a small white tuft on his chest and darker gray rings on his tail. Golden eyes. Has neuter tattoo and claws. Adult size, about 10 or months old - he was a kitten in May when he and his siblings became the castle kittens.⁠
⁠
Behaviors: Darcy is an excellent hunter, loves to be with people, loves scratches and cuddles, and will jump right onto your lap when you sit down. He can be quite silly too - see pic #9 of him sleeping, belly up under a sign! Unofficially loves scrambled eggs.⁠
⁠
Pictures are in chronological order starting with most recent. They show him as an adult, his behaviors with his curly tail and being lovey, and when he's little because omgoodness such a cutie!⁠

Please reach out if you have seen our Darcy, or if you know of someone who has a dark gray "new cat" that might be him. We miss him and so do his brother and sister.
