Carriage Rides Through Time at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage

Carriage Rides Through Time at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage The Hermitage Enslaved: A Horse Drawn Wagon Tour
operates exclusively at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage.
(23)

"The Hermitage Enslaved" is a horse drawn wagon tour that takes visitors beyond the Hermitage Mansion and into the plantation fields where the majority of the enslaved men, women, and children worked, toiled, and lived under the ownership of General Andrew Jackson. On the tour your wagon driver will discuss the story of how cotton, the cash crop and the enslaved people who tended it were vital to

the economy and lifestyle of the Jackson's while also examining how that enslaved community carved out lives of their own despite the "chains" that bound them. On the journey you will have the opportunity to view archaeological sites and remains associated with slavery, cotton, and farming on the Hermitage grounds. The scenic ride lets you experience the 1120 acres from the comfort of a horse-drawn wagon.

Hello! I am posting about my daughters crowd funding fundraiser for a much needed medical procedure... Everyone could you please take the time to go to the Give Send Go page and hit share. Once you hit share it will give you a link to copy and paste. Please paste that link on ALL your social media accounts with a story you have about Kierstan and her journey with RSD. The more people we get to share the post the more chance of raising enough money for her to follow through with these treatments.
I am desperately trying to raise the funds for her to have a chance at a life and be an engaged mom like we all take for granted. Please?

When Kierstan was in 9th grade, she was at band camp and rolled her right ankle. We could not have known how that moment would change her life and alter her...

I wanted to update my friends and anyone who has supported my nephew Jacen in his fight against Leukemia with prayers and/or financial help and his family as they stand by his side. When this all started the news was devastating and kept getting worse. Through the power of our awesome God Jacen is doing well. He has 2 more parts in the current phase but is hoping to be in maintenance by Christmas, again PRAISE GOD! He has even defeated COVID during all this.

Currently Jacen is receiving blood transfusions frequently as the chemo has wiped out his bone marrow and made it tired. It will come back though. He is fighting the normal side affects. He is starting to grow some hair again! Yes, he will lose it again, but there is some growth!

Jacen has been amazing and is one incredible warrior. Throughout his journey he has remained focused on others fighting their own battles. He asks that his mom keep the parent lobby stocked with snacks for other parents, he's helped make Easter baskets for others on the 7th floor, he donated a box of toys and games for the 7th floor, and he is working on developing his Make-A-Wish but rather than take it for himself he is wanting to work with the program to figure out a way to use it to help other kids in need.

Jamie, his mom has been able to go back to work but the medical bills are piling up and although the health stress is improving the financial stress is huge.

I am asking once again that you consider donating to this beautiful family. If everyone donated just $5.00 it would add up quick and pay another bill. If everyone shared it, it might even "go viral!"

Thank you for clicking on the link and reading Jacen's and our family’s story. Up until Novembe… Ashtin Birkicht needs your support for Jacen's Go Fund Me

Our Story

The Hermitage by Wagon offers visitors a look into The Hermitage's past from a truly unique perspective. This 30 minute horse-drawn wagon tour winds through the scenic plantation past several archaeological sites associated with farming and slavery including the First Hermitage and the Field Quarters. As visitors enjoy the nostalgia of a carriage ride and the beauty of a once prosperous plantation an informative and entertaining wagon driver discusses the history of the enslaved people who once lived and were forced to work here. Their lives were closely intertwined with the Jackson’s and it is their story that The Hermitage by Wagon tour focuses on. Please note The Hermitage by Wagon is an additional tour ($12.00) offered to guests who purchase a regular admission ticket to The Hermitage, Home of President Andrew Jackson.
