FESTA HONOREES 2025

HerrinFesta Italiana names their Festa Honorees for 2025. Grand Parade Marshal is Herrinite Bob Scillufo. A retired longtime Kroger manager, president of Herrin City Park Board, member of Festa Committee and Christmas Committee, and active in Herrin First Baptist Church and many community activities. He and his wife, Sheila, have two daughters. He is a man of quiet determination and dedication and relishes life in Herrin.

The Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Steve Miller, college instructor at Rend Lake College, retired supervisor at the United State Department of Labor, longtime Herrin City Councilman, and a founding member of national and international boy summer baseball programs. He and his wife Cindy live in Herrin with their two therapy dogs. They share visits to local hospitals, schools, and care facilities, such as Baker and Maudie.

After the retirement of longtime Festa Committee President Cris Trapani, Joey Helleny and Kelly Green will serve as Festa Co-Chairs of the committee under the umbrella of the Herrin Chamber. This year, HerrinFesta will be held from May 18 to 26.

HerrinFesta Italiana Announces Retirement of Longtime President Cris Trapani and Welcomes New Leadership

Herrin, IL - After 27 years of dedicated leadership, Cris Trapani, President of HerrinFesta Italiana, is set to retire. Cris led the community festival with passion and commitment, following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Bob Ferrari. We extend our deepest gratitude for his fearless leadership, countless hours of dedication, and unwavering support to Festa, the Herrin Chamber of Commerce, and the community.

Throughout his tenure, Cris has been a pivotal figure in maintaining and enhancing the spirit of HerrinFesta Italiana, ensuring it remains a beloved tradition that celebrates our town's rich heritage. His efforts, along with the community's support and participation, have significantly contributed to the festival's success and its ability to give back to local charities and organizations.

As Cris steps into retirement, ready to enjoy more time with his family, the committee has taken this opportunity to restructure and appoint new leadership. The committee is excited to announce that longtime Vice President Joey Helleny, who has been instrumental in the festival's success, and Treasurer Kelly Green, known for her financial insight and community involvement, will take the helm as co-chairs of HerrinFesta Italiana. This decision reflects the committee’s confidence in their ability to continue the legacy of excellence and community spirit that has defined the festival for decades.

With Helleny and Green’s combined experience and commitment, HerrinFesta Italiana is poised to continue its mission of celebrating the town’s heritage and offering a place for families to create lasting memories. The committee is committed to maintaining the festival’s core values set by the founders. Their leadership promises to bring fresh energy and new ideas while upholding these values.

The committee, volunteers, and community members extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cris Trapani for his years of extraordinary service and leadership.
