Visitors on their way to Ruidoso, New Mexico stopped off here in Hico. The fire is doing a lot of heart-breaking damage. I was told the reservation was on fire and Clovis as well. Haven't verified how bad it is i Clovis but understand the reservation is really bad. Saying a prayer for everyone. The cars were great!

HICO SITTING UP FOR A BIG TEXAS STATE COOKOFF.
The lady in pink looks like she's ready for it. The young man posing for me says that's the pose his wife likes. Says he has a face for magazines and a voice for radio. Also said his wife hates him. It does look like a fun time in Hico today the cookers have their fires up and are ready. Get in your car and head on down it's going to be a sunny day.

The National Day of the Cowboy is one again upon us, July 27, 2024. The cowboy was once described as "A Cowboy is a man with guts an' a hoss." The cowboy has dignity, a sense of humor, courage, and the capacity to endure hardship without complaining. He has a soft heart, he is generous, and he is loyal.
The long cattle drives that followed the end of the Civil War certainly proved these truths.
Those were the type of cowboys I grew up surrounded by. July 27, 2024, is this year's date that is set aside to honor the cowboy. This year it is the birthday of my brother Jack who indeed was a
true cowboy.
I wish we were doing something here to celebrate the cowboy, it would be great having cowboys on the streets of Hico, Texas.
