Rodgers Hybrid Organs: The Organ at Rocky River United Methodist
This spectacular installation at the Rocky River United Methodist Church in Ohio features a gorgeous Rodgers Infinity series 489. The aging Casavant organ was proving itself unreliable and cumbersome, which limited the excellent music ministry the church prided itself on.
Upon hearing another Rodgers pipe and digital hybrid installation nearby, the music director realized the Rodgers Infinity Series was the perfect solution to restore the full musical worship potential for their church. With the Infinity 489 came the addition of 531 premium voices, 61 orchestral stops, Zimbelstern, Chimes, as well as solo and antiphonal divisions.
The vision for this instrument was driven by its need to serve the church as an integral part of the musical fabric of the Liturgy. Yet it goes beyond that scope to enable organ, choral and liturgical literature of all styles and periods to be performed successfully. It brings together technology and art, creating a concept which combines the wonder of electronics with the magic of windblown pipes.
